Jeez... It's almost too much you know? It's like, you wanna buy a really nice pair of jeans but then you're presented with so many awesome pleaded jeans that you're kind of paralyzed by all the choices and you don't choose any at all and you go home and watch starcraft replays instead but then there are too many replays to choose from so you just play resident evil 4 on your wii. I'll just go for the safe build and download all the Idra/mondi/JF/xiao/draco/whitera/ replays :D. Thanks.
I literally was worried that it was a dream cause I'm sorta sick and dreamy right now... My brain has been trained to question reality when something this amazing is presented to me.
No more questioning the viability of old replays or strategies. No more wondering what a top-foreigner would do in certain situations. It's safe to say that I won't be bored for atleast another year... I will always have replays to watch....
The TSL has given the foreign community so much, but above all, it's given all us non-top players motivation and something to aspire to.
With infinite lan-latency practice due to Chaos and iccup. With TSL and TL:B.net attack to inspire us. With a replay cache like this to analyze and observe...
We are more capable of reaching the top levels of Starcraft now more than ever. Never have we had such momentum. Incontrol had a great thread on how we stand a great chance in defeating Korea at WCG.. With the TSL and a replay cache like this.. I think we stand an even greater chance now.
Love plays ZvZ when he wants to win or try.. although his TvZ is fine as well. Strelok has a great TvZ. But I'd say some other good bets are Ret (He tvz's) and Haypro (He tvz's as well).
Love has extremely good TvZ macro and pretty much crap micro; when he lost to paranoid in the RO32 or wahtever it was in the TSL he was miles and miles ahead in all 3 games and then he just lost all his crap to tiny armies and bad control. One game he lost like 45 marines and 6 tanks to 3 lurkers because he forgot to scan again after his first scan ran out and just kept walking into the enemies
and before idiots attack me for saying he has bad micro, i'm sure he has good micro when he's payin attention but he doesnt seem to pay that much attention
he comes across as someone who doesnt really care what he's doing when he's playin

Its not that Love has bad micro, he has been out of the BW scene for quite some time and started practicing during the ladder stage. I highly recommend watching any of his games, looking at his match list you can see he plays more Koreans than any other player (at least that I could find). I personally thought he had a great chance to get top5 easily, next TSL watch out for Love if he keeps his training up.
A few years back mentioning Love and Strelok in the same sentence would be considered sin. In his prime he could have easily won the TSL.
Hmm this isn't too old, so I'll bump. Plus, maybe someone who hasn't noticed it will see it.
I'm looking for a strong TvPer. Same as what Seraphim was asking, but for TvP. Strelok and Brat_ok are my guesses, but I would like someone elses input who knows foreigner strengths better than me.

Rets ZvT is the most similar to the the style pro gamers use, with good micro and pretty good macro.
Gosia looks impressive because of his mass drone/macro style, but his style is to macro heavy imo.
Mondragon played almost no T's and the games he played were more him out strating/beating smart then his oppts then due to great micro/macro.... Mondragons ZvT is impossible to learn much from because it is so based on his feel for the game (alot like his ZvP).
Machine has a few impressive ZvT's but he is to safe sometimes
Incontrol is probably the best for any C- or lower zerg to learn from. Very straight foward ... no complication style. Macro/Timming heavy and not very reliant on muta. Much easier style for players to imulate then Rets.
Overall in terms of skill ZvT I would rate them in this order ... Ret,Mondragon, Gosia, and control .. ( just my opinion , not based on any fact other then watching, the other zergs I watched very few replays so I can't judge, DinoT is also good I just can't rate him as I only have seen 2-3 reps)

I haven't watched that many of Inc's games from TSL, but of the ones i watched he completely skips Mutas and goes for lurkers --> +1 carapace i think.
Is it really such a good idea for a newbie like me to try and imitate his style? especially since my micro/macro is not very good.

Thank you good sir, can't wait to check the replays out.
I recently switched to zerg, so I have a looooot of things to learn now.
I just start watching the Mondragon replay pack and in his 5 game vs Arew, Arew upgrade armor instead of weapon. Do armor is more effective when you know that the Zerg is going for a fast carapace upgrade?
PS : Funny how Arew let the zerglings run by in the FIVE games^^

With +1 armor it takes 3 shots from a sunken instead of 2 and 3 shots from a lurker instead of 2 to kill a marine. You can imagine what difference this makes considering the firing rates of sunks/lurks

I believe arew is toss, and that he is referring too ZvP.
There go my exams AGAIN. I wish I was a mothership and had the timebomb ability. Can't remember the last time I had 150hs on my hands. Thanks a Lot though!

yeah cause if zerg goes cara toss's weap is nullified thats why some toss go armor
I use them as tools. If I'm losing on a certain map say Andro ZvT, I'm going to watch 3-4 reps from a couple different zerg players, notice the flow of the game and move on. Mondragon is the only zerg that I watch purely for entertainment.
On September 25 2008 13:42 capek wrote: As a mid-level zerg user, I've started to watch inControl. Is there anyone else I should watch?
definitely Mondragon.
Castro!
His ZvT style is so precise and timing based, and I feel it's an excellent emulation of the korean 3hatch muta into hive style. I haven't watched/played much recently, so this style is probably obsolete to some gay Terran shit though
Haypro/dinot/castro etc.. all the young zerg's of today are going to do the same korean style. It's fine to watch but you will only get variation with a mondragon or perhaps myself. Not that the korean style is bad or anything! There is a reason why it is the cookie cutter z style

Gosia ZvT is definitely not Korean style either lol.

hmmm i was watching some mondi replays, and it definitely looks as if something get messed up (12000minerals building up then the other guy leaves when nothing happens)
is it the 1.16 patch or something?
edit: im an idiot, just realized that it was, but some of them still work
Hello, I am bumping this thread because I like old replays and the links appear to be broken. I'm sure others would like to download these as well. Once starcraft is completely dead, these replays will be all that is left, and I would like them preserved for posterity.
I'd like to bump this thread! This is such a great resource for BW replays (9500 of them!) and all replay links are still working. Thanks for this and hopefully others will find this thread now.

Sorry for the bump.
As i was browsing around the web, looking for old replays I happened on this thread. Unfortunately, the replay links are not available anymore.
If there is any possibility to retrieve the reppacks would be fantastic ! :| Cheers
