The Hype
Before the TSL was announced to the public, there was a long time where the project was simply known as project "Ambition". Ambition infuriated many members of TL.net with it's crytic clues and misleading polls, leading to raging speculation. A timer posted not only on the front page but also at various places on the site served as a constant reminder to the members that something big was coming.
Some of the most common thoughts as to the identity of project Ambition was a foreign team going to Korea, the release of a SC2 beta, the anniversary of SC1, that it was simply an April fools joke, and that is was a foreign starleague. Only the last thought was correct.
The Ladder
The qualifiers consists of three stages: Ladder stage, TSL Qualifiers Round 1, and TSL Qualifiers Round 2.

#1 ToT)Mondragon( #2 Retired_Draco #3 LRM)Yayba #4 MYM.DinOt #5 ToT)XiaOzI( #6 RoX.BRAT_OK #7 MYM.Strelok #8 ToT)SquaLL( #9 T.SQD)Kr #10 Excello.IefNaij #11 Excello.NonY #12 MYM.White-Ra #13 NT.hanniGan #14 ret[Media] #15 ToT)ClouD( #16 LRM)MIStrZZZLegenD

The Ladder stage is the first stage of the qualifiers and anyone can play in it. You do not have to be a member of an elite clan, or a recognized name, or even a great player, to join in during the ladder stage.
The purpose of the ladder stage is to give anyone a chance to make a name for themselves. The project name ambition comes from not only the ambition of the TL.net, but also to the ambition of the players to become the next big thing.
During the ladder stage hundreds of players will fight it out in an open ladder style tournament. Players are free to play against anyone on the ICCup ladder, and play on any map they wish to. The players will move up and down the ladder depending on their rating which is calculated automatically by ICCup.
For three weeks players can keep on trying to get into the top 48, until the ladder closes on the 22nd of April at 1am KST. Once the ladder is closed, players may no longer continue playing, and the top 48 players on the ladder will move on to the next stage of the qualifiers, the TSL Qualifiers Round 1.
The Qualifiers
In the TSL Qualifiers Round 1, players ranked 17-48 on the ladder play against each other in a single elimination Bo3 match. The maps for the Bo3 will be Blue Storm, Longinus, and Zodiac. The winner will go through to the TSL Qualifiers Round 2, while the losers will be eliminated.
The TSL Qualifiers Round 2 will consist of the 16 qualifiers from round 1, and the players ranked 1-16 on the ladder. These players are on the verge of qualifying for the first ever TSL, and earning themselves some money.
The players are divided into groups of four from where they will play a dual elimination style group, with anyone winning two games going through, and anyone losing two games falling out.
The winners will go through to qualify for the TSL and earn themselves a minimum of 100$ prize money!

Btw, is the standings table in here synced with the current results, or does it have to be updated manually?

Thanks Mynock! At the moment I have to update it manually, but I'm hoping Sonuvbob will be able to cook something up so that it can be up to date 24/7.

i made an RSS feed which might help: http://www.dapper.net/services/TSL
should be pretty simple to create a widget @ springwidgets.com or sproutbuilder.com, but ofc a custom made version usually looks better

Anyway non-participants in the games can help out? Writing post-game battlereports/logistical aid/etc.
I'm too crappy to hold out any hope in this event. So I was just planning on participating in another way.
And how would someone apply for observer spots :D?

I'm suprised that Idra isn't on top (or is he not training with Koreans yet?
Sorry foreign pros, I'm rooting for an unknown talent who either sneaks into the top 16 or passes through the top 48 makes it to the final four or better.

Btw is that normal that there's like 30%+ in the top 48 that i've never heard of ? Temujin, sky, tarson, boxerz etc etc... Are they smurfing ?

I don't think smurfing is allowed.

Yes of course, lol, it's only beginning after all. Matter of time before unknown/weak players start to fade out from the ranking (if there won't be surprises).

Smurfing is allowed, but only under certain circumstances
If you feel that not smurfing gives you an unfair disadvantage, you must appeal to Mani. We will then give you a predetermined smurf name. Failure to do this will lead to disqualification.

IefNaij, these maps will only be used in Round 1 & 2 at the moment. We expect to use some of the maps in the TSL, but not necessarily all of them.

How is it that overall there is ~18k wins and ~12k losses?
If every game is between two TSL members, then every game results in 1 win and 1 loss right?
That would also mean that with 31k games total, thats only 15.5k games played?
What's goign on?

Which means we're probably closer to 23k games than 30k games, but that's just an estimate in any case.

i like our numbers higher

How do u make the OP to automatically update every hour? Can u share the metod so i can do it in other web, its the best web my country Bolivia (the country where Castro is playing) has but its on spanish (first language) so i cant just give them the link because they wont understand nothing here. I update manually every day so its a pain in the ass, it would be really helpful if u let me know how to do this automatically update.I would obviuslly say its copyed from Teamliquid.
I'll wait for your answer.

haha testie got pushed down below 48! zomfg...
|
The list updates in a strange way. There are still matches and points to be updated. Not to mention complaints etc to be resolved.
G5 claims additional points, Fenix played vs Idra where points don't show. No idea what happened there. He only needs 3 points it seems to catch up with Machine who is no.48. But his last matches are also all very short vs the same person from the same country. Ultraling played a whole bunch of game against his friend, winning all of them. His friend might have thrown all those matches to get him in the top 48. Even with replays it may be hard to judge that.
Pretty sure spot no.48 will be decided by how complaints are handled.
[edit]
someone just disappeared from the list who was somewhere in between 48 and 20 so everyone went up one spot.
