It will be better. There hasn't been nearly enough high stakes games in HOTS for it to even be comparable to a game that had over 2 years of competitive games played on it, even the issues that it had.

I have enjoyed HotS games but the final one I saw between Calibur and Gosuuser really put me off.

Game 2 in particular was very strange with some very awful play. If a player cannot defend a Swarm Host its sickening to watch wave after wave decimate a base slowly until either GG or Protoss finds a way to kill them. Very low skill. However I have to say the image of the wave of SH and Spine Crawlers moving up a map is so insanely cool. Claustrophobia sets in as Zerg chokes the map to death. Daym. However the third game... ugh.

Protoss 4 base 5 minute game, very boring.

Where is the skill in this matchup? Make units go kill, sit back and shoot Swarm Hosts, fly around with Void Rays and Phoenix picking up drones is better but still a bit meh.

So I am a bit worried for HotS but I gotta say I have had the most fun watching Terran play since around early 2012. Terran feels limitless, you can open so many ways, go either mid game bio or mech, turbo medivac all over the place hitting so much the observer can't find them all, Ravens are actually good now, BC's are still bad but are legit in certain amounts I feel great about Terran.

It's still got SO many issues, but it's certainly more micro intensive, which I think is a huge plus.

Build orders are only cool when they're new. I prefer solid play (scouting and acting accordingly) over just pulling off a one-off build.

I think in two years HotS will be at about the same place as WOL is now. Might even happen faster since players already know SC2 mechanics very well.

right now, at least, I'd have to say that HotS is looking increasingly diverse in strategies. Though, I have to say that what I really hope doesn't happen is BO wins. I know we dealt with that in WoL for a year, and I feel that a lot of new (especially casual) viewership will decline if that happens.

Despite ignoring the game's core problems while adding weird, broken copies of Brood War units, Blizzard has managed to make Zerg matchups much, much better than in 2012. They've managed to do it even after leaving in range 5 queens and chain fungals O_o

In WoL, both Terrans and Protoss have to either kill or cripple an opponent that has the potential to expand their economy exponentially in moments, while also possessing the most powerful early-game units and an unbeatable late-game.

In HotS, however, Zergs can still hit 4 bases / 70 drones without any danger, but are forced to use all of the tools at their disposal to crush their opponent before they can amass an unstoppable deathfleet.

IMO WOL has just become really stale, so while I said yes it is just against the staleness of WOL. I'm not sure if it is actually more entertaining or not...but atm it sure is for me.

Maybe one's staleness is due to one's birth, how does sit sound? Why would blzzzard continue to patch WOL if they are preparing for HOTS n the same time? They don't have unlimited HR.

IMHO the widow mine is an awful addition to the game. Boring, too strong/strange to deal with. Doesn't create a dynamic that is at all entertaining.

Only due to the fact that everything is new and exciting. As soon as the game releases, and people realise how the metagame works with various strategies it will be the same.
Not complaining though, there was never anything wrong with WoL streams and shoutcasting.

My brain is still very stuck in Wol mode, but I'm sure as I watch more I'll really enjoy HoTS, sounds like it will be a roller coaster of balancing and figuring out basically a whole new game like how Wol. I'm quite excited to see how strategies will develop over time, as well to see how Kespa players do now that they are not so far behind in amount of practice.
