From what I see now, the first big tournament in HotS have 4 of each race in top 12 and no mirror match-up at least until the semi-finals. Having said that, Terran is way too op!

I don't care if terran is op right now - I am just happy zerg is losing at the moment!

watching MVP play was amazing vs stephano. he purposely allowed medivac drops to be spotted so he would pull armies and then hit the front or he would allow 1 drop to be spotted to the left while the drop on the right went undetected.... he pulled stephano apart.

it was AWESOME.

While so far I like changes in HotS there are some clear imbalance issues. I'm sure we'll see a lot of tweaks after IEM, MLG, and the first HotS season of GSL. Also, a lot of players are just now transitioning from WoL to HotS, and haven't had proper time to familiarized themselves with the the new units, I've seen a lot of very sloppy game play and failed experiments on the fly. Clearly LG-IM has trained the hardest during the HotS beta and made some HotS builds that counter WoL playstyles. I believe in the near future many more pros will adapt to the new features of HotS and we'll get some better games with real build strats made for HotS. The few games I've seen so far where both players actually play HotS style have been really good, but I'd say a majority of them have been WoL style + MS core/widow mines/vipers and people who really practiced HotS styles have had a major advantage, like Ret and LG-IM players.

No. The new units don't make the game better because they're no better design than the old units. HOTS will decline way faster than WoL, despite all the new fancy stuff around the game (shared replay and so forth), just because the unit design is so poor.

I watched some more IEM today and I have to agree sadly. Hots is not good enough for sc2 to grow.

Right now there's a lot of one sided games as is the nature of a new RTS. I'm not sure if this is preferable to the gross stagnation we've seen from WoL from a purely, in the present spectator point of view. Give it a little time and it's going to be much better though.
