I had to vote IEM because the MLG stream really didn´t like me. Crashed the shit out of my browers every 10 mins..

Also I knew/liked the playerpool at IEM better and the post game interviews where just godlike.

And the crowd was awesome, and Dimaga!

Id have to say IEM.

For a variety of reasons, which I suppose I will list on the off chance that a tournament host ends up reading this thread.

1) The Casting

IEM had Day[9] casting the entire event which is about as ideal as it gets. Also his co-caster for the event was moderately well spoken and had relevant things to say, but also was aware enough to let Day9 set the pace and take the lead casting role, as lets face it...its whats expected.

The MLG caster shuffle was ok at first, but eventually the novelty wore of and I personally found myself disinterested in a lot of games HD/Husky casted. Don't get me wrong I think they are good guys and doing an amazing job for the community with their VODs and media, but just overall lack the depth and high level commentary required to cast these major events. ( sorry )

2) The Games

IEM had the stronger lineup and overall just more exciting games. Thats not really something that can be controlled, but its just how it worked out. Also the quality of casting contributes to this in indirect ways.

3) The Event

IEM felt very big and exciting. There was great shots of the players, the stage, and the event. MLG focused heavily on the casters, lacked a real stage, and just overall had a "local lan" feel to it.

4) Coverage

This is probably the only place MLG came out on top. Great quality free stream with great bandwidth and the option to even upgrade to HD. Very well done by MLG, props.

Thats about it. Overall both events were great and very exciting to watch and im thankful for both events.

Got tired of watching MMM every game in the MLG. The only good games were the finals where a lot of innovative play was presented.

Pretty much agree with all this :/

IEM for sure. I'd rather tolerate Apollo with Day9 than listen to HD/Husky. There was also more skilled players at IEM, MLG had so many pubs because of open registration.

Voted IEM because it had better games, but MLG had better coverage.

Both tournaments were pretty boring,

at the IEM, just 5 rax reaper ,were the finals.

and at the MLG, poor slush kicked out early, and were left for a mirror match up.

I'd like the IEM a tad better.

I think IEM was just better all over, although the Raleigh event was a solid first try for MLG. My major problem was some of the casting. Really they need to cut it down to two. Day9 for the intellectual, analytical stuff, and Husky for the battles/harassment/other exciting bits. Sorry HD, but I prefer my metaphors/witticisms intact and undefiled.
I watch Day9 to learn, Husky to laugh, and HD when I feel like facepalming.

i voted IEM because MLG takes to much time to update their VOD (yeah i know they want me to pay for it...) and before all better games - from what i saw yet -
Althrough MLG stream was far better quality and appeared to run much smoothly.

IEM by far, I didn't enjoy MLG, lost interest by the middle of day one. I'm really not a fan of HD's casts, husky is ok, but day9 and Apollo for the entire event was much more enjoyable for me.
Watching the crowd behind the casters, and all the stage shots also made the event feel more exciting. Plus the quake live matches were amazing, and I ended up liking them more than SC2's games.

Had to pick IEM because Day[9] casted every match. I don't think the other casters are bad or something, I'm just way to Day[9]-fanboyistic, so every time he wasn't casting at MLG, I couldn't help but feel disappointed.

I chose MLG because it is going to be a good venue in the future. They will probably bump the prize money up after they saw the big draw it gave, which will attract more international players. If it stays in the format of 32 invited 32 open that will be awesome. I like watching a game when a "no name" gives an invited player a run for their money. ElParamedico vs Silver was entertaining. They just need to improve which games are casted Incontrol vs Machine would have been better than Tyler vs J3tty(no offense) for the first series.

Last but not least the ask the caster thread MLG always does is awesome + the day9 attempt at standup.
