Yes, once long long ago Team Liquid had a Showmatch Sereis named "Liquibition". It was the brain child of Rekrul, and for 20 great installments Liquibition brought you some of the best Showmatches done to date.
Often duplicated, but never imitated, Liquibition featured some of the best foreign gamers to play the game, as well as a few Korean gosus that brought their game to the table.
Many of you will remember Liquibition, but for those of you who are new here, or never followed this series, here is a quick recap for you.
Liquibition started at the end of 2002, about 3 months after the site opened. The first match pitted the Fervent Frenchman, Elky, against the Indigenous Iglooian, Liquid`Crystal. (You see why Dan should write more?) In this best of five, the featured maps were Neo Bifrost and Gaema Gowon. Elky quickly became the first ever Liquibition champion after defeating Crystal 3-1. Here are the reports.
Here is a list of the matches that followed, linked to either their written reports or replays if nothing was written:
- #2 Elky 6-3 Blackman, Dec 25 2002, (yeah it was a bo11! haha)
- #3 Elky 4-0 Beast, February 5th 2003
- #4 Elky 7-0 Rekrul, February 11th, 2003
You gotta read the introduction to this next one...
Alas we have reached the final chapter in the Nuketacular Bertrand Grospellier Saga. During his campaign he shattered Crystal (3-1), lynched Blackman (6-3), beautified Beast (4-0), and wrecked yours truly (7-0). To top off his term as the King of Liquibition he would have to beat the man that he shares bed sheets with, Smuft. Super Manner User For Toss lives in Korea and is a part of team white boy (The Dream and Us Team) with Elky and our humble site denizen. Can the Crimson Capped Canadian succeed in his attempt for a coup d'etat versus the Foxy Frenchman?
- #5 Smuft 6-2 Elky, March 18th, 2003
- #6 Smuft went to jail. Froz 6-5 Veg, May 10th, 2003
- #7 Ret 4-0 Froz, May 27th, 2003
- #8 Ret 4-3 Legionnaire, June 4th, 2003
- #9 Infinity[pG] 4-2 Ret, June 7th, 2003
- #10 Infinity[pG] 4-3 Daaman[pG], July 6th, 2003
- #11 Infinity[pG] 4-3 Suker[pG], July 31st, 2003
- #12 Tomson 4-1 Infinity[pG], September 10th, 2003
- #13 Joyo 4-2 Tomson, September 14th, 2003
- #14 Joyo 4-0 Cope, November 6th, 2003
- #15 Elky 4-1 Joyo, January 7th, 2004
- #16 Legonnaire 4-3 Elky, February 4th, 2004
- #17 Leginnaire > Ret
- #18 Ogogo 3-0 Leginnaire, June 6th, 2004
- #19 Gundam 4-3 Strafe, October 17th, 2004
- #20 Gundam 4-1 Breakdown, January 22nd, 2005
and then...
nothing. The influx of poker hit full swing and the exodus began from the TeamLiquid site. Among the casualties were none other than the beloved Belgian, GroT. And with his departure, the Liquibition series ground to a halt... until now...

Cool. I remember Elky wrote "Aran" out, the name of his girlfriend at the time, with units and/or buildings in one of his games vs Rekrul.
|
It should be between two people that frequent here like Midian and Testie or Drone and Midian.

Yay, the first Liquibition I will ever witness! I still remember when I was a probe and DLed the Ogogo vs Leg reps. They were awesome. I remember the one on Parallel lines quite clearly still.

It is supposed to be the other way around, I thought he did that on purpose though because, well, he's fucking Manifesto7.

asdf Mani, I have actually made reports from #10 and on up to Leg vs Elky, so there's more to it than those reps you've linked!

didn't smuft get caught with drugs when he was trying to enter Korea for like WCG 2002 or something like that? Does someone remember exactly what happened? ;o I didn't think he actually went to jail though...so he's really in jail?

Poll: What should make Liquibition #21? (Vote): Rekrul vs Fayth (Vote): Fayth vs Strafe (Vote): Testie vs Draco (Vote): Other (name it)
|
uh doh.. voted the one first in the list, but intended to vote Testie Draco ;D
|
|
Fayth vs C- english speaking pgt player, should be pretty close.
|
|
Draco vs some korean... And the smuft jail comments are just too much. Seems like some people havent heard about him at all nor the wcg story. I'm impressed how you can not know. And I really need to sleep. My ability to form readable sentences is starting to decline rapidly.
|
For the record smuft was never locked up.. He was detained and investigated for several days for the charges of drug smuggling and dealing which eventually ended up him deported back to his country. Since he returned to Canada, he practiced very hard for the upcoming WCG and came 2nd in WCG Canada after Giyom. He tried to re enter Korea to participate in WCG but he was never able to pass through gates of Incheon airport. Korea is not indonesia.. they don't lock up a person 20 years for drugs.

hmmm, liquid`chraej is winning this for sure.
