This is kinda bittersweet. I think it's kind of fitting that his retirement coincides with brood war's. He once had a dream about a game, that game is gone now so it is time for him to dream elsewhere. Like I said, bittersweet, but fitting.
Good luck in the future Jinro! If you can apply the passion and drive you had for starcraft to poker or wherever else you find yourself in the future, you'll have no problem succeeding.

Its sad to see you go, but i'm happy that you are pursuing other endeavors in your life. After reading your interview, It reminded of when I quit as well. I often wonder what happened to the passion I once had for the game. Anyhow, Thank you for the time you've put into this game to show us entertaining gameplay. Maybe one day the desire to compete will grow again. Goodluck.

you taking out MC to avenge your previous loss with mech nonetheless. Among Other things I distinctly remember a night when I was dry drunk and I load up your stream and you are practicing games with Huk. Testing out EMP range on metalopolis....I WAS SOOOO CONFUSED. Your stream was full of great music and great games.

I'll never forget you telling Artosis. "Deal with it, I'm Swedish" or you stockin by Huk when you were messing around at group selection lol. A true friend

Jinro, you were one of the first people who got me interested in watching SC2 and Team Liquid. Will always remember your GSL runs, they were incredibly exciting . . . stayed up until the early AM in order to see them and I was never dissapointed. Thanks for the memories!

P.S. Favorite memory is "the hand of Jinro" after beating MC in GSL

Well played Jinro. I know you probably won't get the time to read many of these, but after watching you in the original GSL open seasons, I always loved watching you play. But I'm happy you've moved on. Anyway, I don't suppose anyone remembers this picture from GSL (open season2? I think t_t), but its a good memory for me, staying up all night to watch it.

If anything, Jinro, it wasn't that you no longer had fuel for the dream but you actually achieved it. You won a major tournament, went toe to toe with the best in the world at the time and still have GSL runs that foreigners will be trying to top for possibly years to come. Your career and achievements will be remembered in the likes of Legionnaire & Grr...

I remember, day9 talking about how good this moderator frozen arbiter was, his name change to Jinro and suddenly becoming a huge presence on the scene.

I remember, someone standing up for team liquid when no-one else could and restoring pride to the name at MLG Dallas.

I remember, the nerd with a dream transforming into the nerd-killer who made it, leather jacket and all.

I remember, being so inspired that someone could take it to the Koreans in an era where no-one else would, doing what others couldn't. Telling people who didn't care about SC that there was this one guy, and back then the only one, who could make it happen over there.

I never were a great fan of yours, Jinro. I didnt know you from BW days and just leanred afterwards that you had some history there too.It´s not that i disliked you, as much as you can dislike or like someone you dont know for real, you just flew under my radar, even when everybody was hyping you during your GSL participation.
But this bold, sincerely honest and mature statement has impressed me very much. Best of luck!

Jinro, you were the reason I took to SC2 at all. Your games in the GSL, in other tournaments, and on stream were more fun for me to watch than anyone else's. I found your play and your person to be real and inspiring, and seeing you succeed even in small ways made me happy. I just want you to know, if nothing else, that your games, your interviews, and your stream brought happiness on a routine basis to a person who sometimes has a hard time finding it. Not to mention that you treated me with the utmost kindness when I was an obnoxious, drooling fanboy at MLG Columbus 2012, and that meant a lot to me.

I hope you find both joy and success in poker and BJJ, and, though you aren't a spotlight person, I hope you stay in touch with this community. I still want to root for your successes; I hope Jonathan Walsh is even more successful than Liquid Jinro at his GSL prime. I hope you find the joy in those activities that you couldn't find in SC2, but I thank you for the happiness that your SC2 career brought to me. Best of luck, Jinro. You rock.
