PokerStrategy.com TSL3 Qualifier #2 Details
Who can play? Anyone with an NA account who does not live in a country assigned to the Korea or Taiwan server can participate. More specifically, players living in Korea, Taiwan, or China cannot participate. Players living in the SEA countries can participate.
How do I register? Registering for TSL3 Qualifiers is the same as registering for the TeamSpeak TL SC2 Open. You will be able to register with your TL account on Friday, Jan 14 1:00am GMT (GMT+00:00). You will need to fill in your NA Battle.net account information to tie it to your TL account.
How do I qualify? There are 16 EU/NA qualifier spots. Winning a TL SC2 Open tournament (1st place) ensures that you qualify for the TSL3. Placing second to sixteenth earns you qualifier points. There are eight TL SC2 opens. Each of the eight winners will earn a TSL3 spot. Eight more players who have the most qualifier points will also qualify.
How many of the eight TL SC2 Opens can I play? If you meet the registration requirements, you can play all eight tournaments. You will need access to an EU and NA account to play all eight. It is fine if you borrow a friend's account, but there will be no account sharing during tournaments, as this causes unacceptable delays.
Example: Player A borrows Player B's EU account to play in TSL3 Qualifier #1. Player B cannot play in TSL3 Qualifier #1 unless he has access to a different account. This is to ensure that the tournament does not have delays. Two players cannot play on the same account for the tournament.
If I earn points with different Battle.net accounts, are they added together? Yes. Qualifier points are credited to the TL user, not the Battle.net account. As long as you fill in your Battle.net account information correctly, you will be awarded the points.
Can I play in more TSL3 Qualifiers after I win one? No. Once you win a TSL3 Qualifier you cannot play in any more. If we discover that a player was secretly playing in TSL3 Qualifier tournaments after winning one, that player will forfeit his TSL3 spot and be disqualified.
Can I smurf or help my friend qualify by playing on his account? No. Playing for another player is cheating. Two players cannot combine their results -- all qualifier points must be solely earned by one player. If we discover that a player was posing as someone else, both players will be disqualified.

Woot! He missed the last qualifiers because he was competing in the pokeridol tour. Incidentally he won the tournament. I was afrai he would miss this one because the HomeStoryCup II is on the same day. I guess he's going to try to fit both into his schedule.
|
I hope the Homestory-Cup guys will play in this.
|
Sounds great! Thanks TL.net you guys are so sexy :3

2048........ wtf. TLO FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah by the looks of it, the only person who could probably beat him is white-ra.
|
Does anyone know whether TLO has to go with random in every game or can he take a certain race depending on the mu and map?

It's really going to get tougher and tougher to even get into the qualifier points ranks and only one player from NA made it into the points in TL Open #8 (I know there weren't that many NA players), gonna be interesting to see, whether some european players can "steal" some points this weekend from the NA server. Could make the difference in the end.

Do all major leagues allow this? I doubt GSL does, but does it? I have a feeling the random player that made it into GSL 3 once picked his race...
|
I want to play so bad... >< 9am in the morning!

I don#t know whether it is allowed, but I'm quite sure the random guy really randomed. At least on meta when he got Z, I can't remember the second map and after that it was over for him.

2048 spots.... wow. Hopefully I can throw in a few naps on Friday and have a chance to play. Organized perfectly as always, thanks.
|

Racepicking is not allowed in the GSL. If you choose a race (or random) you have to play that for the entire tournament.

I'll be registering! Don't think I have a great chance, but I'll try my best!

Signing definitely in!!!! just hope im not first round vs TLO or WhiteRa... :D but man TSL is AWESOME!!!
|
2048 players
the biggest tournament ever?
|
Racepicking has always been allowed in TSL, some guy in the TSL 2 qualifiers played TvZ, PvT, and ZvP.
|
I hope all the good players come out to play in this one. I was slightly disappointed in the first qualifier, there seemed to be a lot of good players missing.

Our rules allow racepicking. I do want to say that for TSL when we are able to plan matches in advance a player needs to inform his opponent of the race that he will play. He is allowed to play different races in different rounds on different maps, but the opponent has to know well in advance.
This all stems from the opinion we have that a player who is able to play multiple races simply knows the game better and should not be punished for this. We do want to give his opponent a chance to practice the right matchup. As for TL Open we can't plan the matches advance nor do players prepare for opponents so it works out fine with our philosophy.

How long does a complete Open usually take?

nice improvements! like that its bo3 earlier..
Cant wait for the next one on EU..

Wait is it completely not allowed to play from Korea ?

Afaik you can play as long as you have a legit NA account

Is there any sort of seeding, in the tournament, so the pros don't play each other until the late stages?

My only question is how long does the qualifier usually run for?
Asking because I work about 3-4 hours after it starts

Btw, i am wondering..... WHERE IS HUK!!! Only thing i can think is that hes auto guaranteed a position in TSL3, or he won a previous qualifier.

HuK lives in Korea at the moment, so he isn't allowed to participate. Same goes for Idra, Jinro and Ret.
Nice lineup so far with many strong EU players like TLO, Naniwa, WhiteRa, Nerchio, Darkforce, MorroW. Will be interesting to see them face off against such great players like qxc, drewbie, iNcontroL or TT1.

I have a complaint about the rules, specifically, the rule that allows players to change race between matchups. Why is this rule here? Is it here because TL doesn't want strong players to be eliminated early on in the tournament by lesser players on maps that favor the other race? Is it here by mistake? What happens if I play PvZ, ZvT, and ZvP and my opponent plays TvP, ZvZ, and PvP? Do you both go back to your original race?
Why is racepicking based on the map and your opponent's race allowed in the tournament? Many of the maps significantly favor one race over another in certain matchups. In a prior TL Open, I played morrow in the ro32 - a game I looked forward to - and on the bracket, it listed him as Z. So it would be a ZvZ on Delta Quadrant, in which I, as a top 200 zerg, believed I had a decent chance in. But he choose terran, and won, on the TvZ favored Delta Quadrant.
Allowing players to racepick based on the map is a stupid method, no other tournament allows it, and TL never allowed this in SC1 tournaments they hosted. GSL doesn't let Idra switch to terran if he finds himself in a ZvZ or playing ZvT on steppes. Is there any good reason why this is here?
|
ahhhhh!!! there are only 1400 people registered

I don't see how else to justify it, we just believe it's much better for TL Opens. Everyone is able to racepick, so it's not unfair for any minority of players.
