I think announcing running for major before the game should not be allowed, because it removes the possibilities for the mafia. Same goes for agreeing on any strategy beforehand.

@Chuiu you should require the players who signed up long time ago or where moved from the last game to renew.

His concern is valid under the assumption that a higher percentage of townies than percentage of mafia candidate for major. But I don't think that assumption is true.
And I consider announcements of your tactics before the game lame.

Ghars plan is very similar to the one I had. But I don't think a DT should suicide to kill the major. Instead he should rolecheck the Pardoner and if the pardoner is innocent report to him.

Posting the siglist doesn't make aarav seem innocent from my point of view: It does not give not give the town a real advantage but looks like you are trying to help the town.

the problem is, that sacrificing one mafia for one detective and the major is good for the mafia. Imo if the major is mafia the detectives should repeat the process, but this time with the pardoner.
And the plan o/c works if we use another major.

Do bodyguards know they are bodyguards? If no, the bodyguard plan does not work with a mafia major. One other thing to consider is, the terrorist might kill the bodyguards who outs to get the messages from the other roles.
Emyprean: your move might have been smart in a game with few mafia players. But not with this many mafia players which makes one mafia player very expentable compared to the gain of a major. I considered the move myself, but came to the conclusion it is unwise.

One thing about detective is, that they should mostly ask about who voted for a specific person. A question about a clue has a shannon-entropy of atmost one bit, whereas the question about how many people voted for a specific person usually leads to a significantly higher entropy.

1. Yeah they do.
2. You just admitted you have a role?

I'm not stupid, I considered it before the game. But as mafiamembers are very expendable in this game(I'm used to games with <20 players total, not 20 mafia) it is no good move for a detective.
I also have some half finished code utilizing shannon entropy to calculate the best target for the detectives, but as we have many detectives and they probably will be able to communicate that is probably not usefull anymore.

@qrs: I think one detective detective is not enough if there more detectives report than there are really ingame. Also make sure the "few hours" are long enough. Not everybody is always active. I think 20-30 hours should be ok.

I talked about the terrorist bombing him before he gets all the messages, so medics won't help. But a exchange of the terrorist for a bodyguard is probably ok for us.

Think about it from a mafia standpoint: If I truly were mafia roleclaiming to be detective, once the election is over and under your plan, the detectives reveal their clues (not publically, of course), it'll be obvious that I wasn't a detective. So why would the mafia risk such a scenario?

Quick edit.

Mafiamembers are expendable in this game. Taking out the major is worth a dead mafia member.

@qrs:
The role question is imo not that valuable compared to the "how many voted for" question. And they are only expended if a mafia-member claims to be detective, which effectively kills this mafia member. So they are not wasted.

Currently we have 20/110=18% evil among us. So lynching from a group where the DT returned that about 1/5th=20% is mafia does not help. We should devise some plan to make sure the mafia cannot easily adjust the evil percentage on all votegroups to ~20%.
One way the achieve this is dictatorship of a confirmed good person. But that course takes out fun for all other townies, because they can no longer vote for themselves.

Wrong. We started at 20/130=15.4% mafia. At the moment, 90 townies and 18 mafia are still alive, which gives 18/108=16.7% mafia. Mafia managed to shift the percentage a bit to their advantage, but after the next kill they will have less killing power. The longer the game goes, the more information becomes available. So i think town is on a good way to victory.
And the confirmed town-aligned leader would be our mayor, Ace.

Do saboteur and terrorist cound as innocent for the detective? And even if it's 0.02 less, it does not change the fact that it is good if the mafia percentage in a given selection is as far appart from 20% as possible. So we should try to achieve that.

Mr. Blue related to lurker:
Day 6
* "Mr. Blue pulled out the secret weapon he always wanted to kill someone with, a chainsaw"
->Uses Chainsaw, which resembles the spike row a bit
->secret weapon-> lurkerspikes are a weapon which coming surprisingly from the ground

Day7:

-> same applies to lurker spikes
* "The tip was enough to do severe damage"
-> spikes do damage with their tip
* "tackled Mr. Blue to the ground"
-> lurker burrows in the ground
* "sneak in from the back"
-> Lurker is a sneaky unit

Who has is related to a lurker

Some additional clues fit here:
"aZnvaLiaNce was quicker and dived past Mr. Blue as he broke the chain of the saw on the metal part of the cubicle wall"
-> the lurkerspines hit the cliff and end there
-> The spikes miss the marines (the blood in the image looks like a dead lurker, not marineblood)
"but aZnvaLiaNce dodged to the side and screamed"
->missing again
"All windows locked he tried the back door. When he was left with no other option he decided to kick in the door"

Mr. Blue pulled out the secret weapon he always wanted to kill someone with, a chainsaw. He tugged on the chord to get it started and aZnvaLiaNce shot up from his seat instantly and turned around to see the three men standing at the doorway. Mr. Blue lunged toward him aiming for his chest but aZnvaLiaNce dodged to the side and screamed out in pain as the chainsaw shredded down the side of his arm. Mr. Blue went in for another attack but this time aZnvaLiaNce was quicker and dived past Mr. Blue as he broke the chain of the saw on the metal part of the cubicle wall. Joe gave Mr. Blue a thumbs up for effort as he grabbed and held onto aZnvaLiaNce from behind.

Mr. Blue was first up, and he was outside the house of fusionsdf. He noticed him in the living room and decided to try to sneak in from the back. All windows locked he tried the back door. When he was left with no other option he decided to kick in the door which alerted fusionsdf. He ran to the back of his house to see Mr. Blue coming in. fusionsdf knew exactly what was going on and grabbed an umbrella that was sitting by the door. He stabbed at Mr. Blue and flailed at him trying to fight him off but Mr. Blue evaded the blows and grabbed hold of the umbrella and yanked it out of fusionsdf's hands. He broke the handle hitting fusionsdf over the head with it and discarded it. fusionsdf dived forward and tackled Mr. Blue to the ground but Mr. Blue shoved him to the side and quickly got up. He grabbed up the umbrella again and stabbed down at fusionsdf. The tip was enough to do severe damage to fusionsdf, and he stabbed through his chest as if it were nothing. Pretty soon fusionsdf was dead from the beating.
Slight chance that Mr Blue could be a lurker ala jtan?

I don't think bandwagoning will continue to such an extend after Plexa and Ace are gone. First we'll complete the list of the top suspects, then the decision is up to the single players. And that worries me, because the mafia can easily manipulate a spread vote.

security through obscurity for the win
And there are so many possible(and probable) searches where the post turns up.
"Mandalor Mafia"
"Controversial List Mafia" I would almost have done that search, because I wanted to know what that strange list plexa kept talking about is.
But well, now we have to live with the mafia knowing that post. No use in arguing about the mistakes of the past. We can do that after the game has finished.

He does have a partner--or did: Dapper Dan. Whatever happened to him?

In think Chuiu stated that Dan did nothing in this game at all.

And I never expected the game to run till now when my exams are. It was simply too large.

Jeejee, If the game was balanced with everybody playing, then how does only 1/2 the town playing + us getting the list of blues + it still being close have the game balanced?

I agree with that. The town made several really bad mistakes and still came out ahead, and only might lose due to inactivity in the end. (Yes the mafia wasn't too efficient with distributing their killingpower, but the town mistakes were FAR bigger than that).
But of cause clues are extremly hard to balance. If you have sb like Plexa who gets much info from them they help town very much, if not the game easily swings the other way. I also have no idea what mafia/town ratio is good for such a game, as I'm only used to much smaller games with different rules (no clues, no major).

If you have sb like Plexa who gets much info from them they help town very much, if not the game easily swings the other way. mostly because the mafia sucked. i do think you underestimate the mistakes mafia made this game.

That might be very possible as I missed large parts of the midgame. The only major mistake I recall was the randombum massvoting.

btw is there a current list of confirmed innocents and suspects with a reasoning why they are suspicious. I think one of the main reasons for inactivity is, that once you missed a part of the thread, it is very hard to get back into the game without reading many pages.

That game went much longer than expected. Sorry for being a bit inactive and sorry to jtan for making that lurker connection. My only larger cluework and it turns out to be wrong -_-
