If you wanted to use the town Masoner to determine alignments, you'd Mason someone scummy N1 and crumb that you masoned them at the end of N1 and crumb again at the end of N2, and if he's mafia there's a non-trivial chance he gets spooked and shoots you, and town will find the crumbs and realize that the scummy guy was who you masoned, and the only guy who knew you were a mason. Maybe lie in a closed-ish setup like this and say that you'll have an alignment check on whoever you mason after the second night, which would really spook mafia (unless you got unlucky and masoned a GF....)

I don't know why rels would mason rsoul though when there's a high probability she could get shot. Unless he knows she's not going to get shot.

yeah that is pretty strange. maybe he thought it was his ace in the hole (either as town, to prove himself, or as scum, to bamboozle) and just got super mad when it didn't work. i'm eager to hear his side of the story

In fact, you can be a big contributor to a town victory as a VT just by doing these two things:
1) look town
2) hunt scum (this includes identifying and following good town players)
The first job of any town-aligned player is to not get lynched. And yes, I am aware I was actively trying to get lynched D1 and shot N1, please ignore that for the purposes of this educational post.

The game was long and I didn't feel like reading it. I think my second or third post in this game was after 100 pages had sprung up and I basically said "I'm not reading this, just lynch me now so I don't have to deal with it"

I feel like mocsta dropped his scum read on ace far too quickly even though ace just made a few incongruous false statements.

On top of all that, After spending 24 hours D1 and all of N1 trying to get lynched and shot, it didn't happen. And if it won't happen when I'm actively trying to make it happen, it's not happening. So, there's really no reason to avoid saying things that might get misunderstood and lead people to think I'm scum. who cares? None of you are going to pull together a group big enough that it's going to lynch me anyways. So... I'm free. I can post what I want. I don't have to stop and think about what will build cred, because I have none. I don't have to carefully maneuver to avoid scum trapping me into getting lynched, because as we've seen, it's impossible to lynch me. I've transcended this game. I am beyond suspicion. People just don't want to lynch me, so why should I defend myself? Why should I worry about my appearance, or any pressure anyone puts on me? Feh. I'll analyze what I want to analyze and do what I want, and see if I can find some scum. I'm cursed to play out this game for my hubris, trapped, never lynched, vigied, or nked, no matter what I try. So... I might as well play, and fuck caring about what I look like

Yeah, it would be pretty ballsy to make as scum. Also, I'm probably one of the best scum players on TL Mafia - or I was back in the day, anyways. I'm just a decent town player, mostly skilled in avoiding getting lynched (which is actually a useful skill!) and driving discussion, typically. But as scum I've pulled all kinds of stunts. Once, I pretended that I was moving to a different house, put stuff in boxes and took photos of it, and people let it slide that I wasn't active for a full day. I'm a complete bastard. I'm pretty amazing.

K, haven't really caught up with the thread yet. Saw Ace posted a bunch, but he's gone again. He looks like a bad lynch.

My wanting to kill sentinel at night was never my own read. Already hashed that out with rsoultin during the night, so anybody tripping over it (rayn) is just not reading. I was perfectly happy to carry Palmar's torch and blindly sheep Palmar's cases after he flipped. I would have gotten around to having some updated thoughts about him eventually if I hadn't kinda decided that killing HF was more important than killing sentinel or wiggles.
Looking back, that change of priorities is kinda based on two things:
Holyflare's behavior during the night, where he never once showed any shock or surprise over his "scumread" flipping green.

I read this and found it to be the essence of the matter. Sentinel and Wiggles are around and have 0 clout. Especially wiggles had barely posted at all by the end of n1. There's no real urgency in lynching them if HF is also scum. Whereas HF has real sway over town, and scum will just keep killing competing town voices until some poor shmuck(s) face the dilemma at lylo. So WoS post hit home and I agreed he had to die first. Ahead of Palmar's targets.
That doesn't mean sentinel or wiggles are off the hook. They're just on pause til HF is dead. I promise to have some original thought on them before I push lynching one or the other tomorrow. Or someone else like rayn. He is super tunneled on me and using it as an excuse to do nothing of value. It isn't helpful to town. You could probably say the same about me and HF, but I'm trying to talk about other people (in fact, since my case, I am purposefully resisting getting dragged back into a conversation about HF so I can catch up on other people).
