Yea I was talking about it in the Obs QT. I have fun with it. Seems like it has a bit of a lower barrier to entry than other card games and has an interesting other facit of tactical movement. Reddit says if you use the referral code "redditpals" you start with 100g. so thats cool.

Also I am a sucker for that art style

Half the Sky's night actions look a bit different from mine becuase she likes to draw it out already calculating the redirects, while I like to draw who people are trying to action on first. This is why on her diagram the KP is targeting geript and on mine it is targeting koshi.

Aperture 5 has to happen eventually, and I think im planning on doing another Sleeper Cell mafia.

Actually might do another parellel worlds mafia, but it depends on if there is any interest in a game like that. I probably would go less crazy on the roles and focus solely on the game swapping mechanic.

But in any case, if you prefer to not cohost one of these and just go it alone, I am usually availible to look at and help balance any themed games that are in the works.

Oh also, I would like player input on the following mechanics in the game

First: we actually didn't use this, but I thought it might have been interesting to give each of the Mafia team 1 "ban" they could use to eliminate a role from the list, rendering it unable to be picked. This ban would have been annouced at the start of the pick phase. We opted not to include it becuase HtS was getting bad feelings about it, I didnt care enough to push for it, and it probably would have given the scum team too much power.

Second: The mysterious challenger.
The only way I would host a PyP was if it was not possible to get vanilla town. I had a number of options in the works, such has having a special role everyone would get instead of vanilla, or ordering the role list from best to "worst" and having the players get roles from the bottom up instead of vanilla.

Ultimately we decided to create a handful of rather poor roles and have players who were supposed to get vanilla randomize between them, or even allow a player low on the pick order to decide to choose the mysterious challenger and have a bit more control over what he got.

I'm definitely up for helping co-host.

I had an idea for a PYP: Random Draft kind of game too that I want to host at some point maybe if I ever work out all of the details.

Basic idea is a closed setup with 20-30 available roles, and each person gets PM'd a list of 3 random roles to pick from. When they pick, that role is taken out of the pool and the next person is PM'd a list of 3 roles to pick from, etc etc. So everyone would have a 3 role pool of an idea to base how they expected all of the roles in the game to work.

The biggest problem would just be that the role drafting phase would have the potential to take a long time if people aren't reasonably prompt on sending their choice in, since the next person can't go until I know what role to take out of the role pool

I'm not sure if it was needed in this set up. I think this game balances itself out through night KP. Don't think mafia needs an extra edge. Usually they do in PyP games, but I don't think it was necessary in this one.
Minimal effort.

Instead of doing it one player at a time, do batches of players at once.

Because you are only sending a player 3 of the 20 roles (assuming 15ish players), send 3-5 players a list of 3. Has a bit of a different effect then what you are looking for, but gets the job done faster.

Ooh, I think bans could have been interesting. There were plenty of good roles to go around, so 2 out of the pool wouldn't have been a huge deal. I'm curious what each team would have banned, anyways I feel like if I had been on Cobra and knew that it wasn't likely that my team was going to have anyone near the top of the pick list, I would have banned CPR Doc, which would have meant Superbia didn't pick it, etc. So it doesn't necessarily just hurt town, especially with how many town-centric roles that scum ended up picking anyways.

Mysterious challenger was A++.

I believed that, assuming scum could not get them, they would have banned CPR doctor and either Werner von Braun or the Arrow, mainly to prevent them from falling into the other team's hands.
