IMO defensiveness per se isn't a scumtell, it's about the extent of that defensiveness. And I'm kinda with JAT here Obi, I don't understand the vociferousness of your objection. Obviously you don't agree that you're scum, no one expected you to agree with it.

Why did Holyflare disappear smh
I get that he doesn't want to argue with me about his alignment and that he wanted me to 'stop pushing my shitty case' so he 'can finish churning out his stuff with his remaining time.' Then he disappears for the rest of the night... after I stop pushing my case...

What changed is terrible deadlines, on top of terrible terrible daylength reductions, on top of not being able to meet the "spam meta" especially because of the first two. Also, this game situation is dire. I honestly, seriously, can't understand why fucking no one can be bothered to try to figure out how we keep town together for lynches at this point.

We do that by getting people to post suspects lists and making cases and then discussing it from there. The same as we always would do... it's just a tighter requirement now than in Day 1.
I'm honestly not sure what more to tell you. I don't get your point at all. Sheeping a townie of potentially-dubious accuracy is just allowing the mafia to pick who to kill. Let's say for example that Holyflare IS town and I name him my primary suspect (as I have) and the mafia nightkills me. Everyone sheeps my dead wrong ass onto Holyflare and we lose. If the town is allowed to discuss the matter more thoroughly they might conclude I was wrong and pick the right target.
Even if we decided on "sheep dead townies" as a fallback option of last resort, what's the harm in discussing it out?

I just don't get why LYLO is so different. At LYLO-1 we needed to have (unanimous-1) consent to catch scum. You weren't worried about it then. The consequences weren't as dire, sure, but this drastic shift in policy is just utterly incoherent to me.
