what you mean is that it's a heuristic that shouldn't be true because it's sad or bad that it is the case, which is different.

I don't particularly why he doesn't do any of that as mafia. Take Palmar's cop game. Oats took a terrible stance and then argued it into the ground despite the entire game telling him he was being stupid. He didn't give it up or frankly even look like he would give it up. I guess I was just so happy Oats was being logical that I presumed the improvement was town related in some way.

why would you presume that?

The thought process behind Oats' argument about my plan and the evolvement of it seems really townie to me as Artanis said.

I think Oats' thought process is way more likely to "evolve" as mafia than it is as town though. I think he just calls all plans stupid in every single game he's played as town when there has been plans. I don't understand why in this game he suddenly becomes more pliable.

To be fair I think he was doing it somewhat intentionally (knowing that his stance was bad). At least that's the picture I got from him.

Changing his mind to match town mindset is only slightly town and loess so for oats imo. hes still town to me though

Look at any Oats town game. He asks like every player constantly "who is scum Palmar" "who is scum rayn" "who is scum Artanis" "why don't you have reads" and he hounds ppl for it
there's literally none of that this game.

No his argument was purely "rayn you are stupid your plan is bad" just for the sake of arguing. Look at this, this is town!Oats:

One thing I am noticing from Oats is a much stronger reluctance to make hard conclusions. He calls people "weird" and asks why rather than say they're scum. Even his vote is a policy lynch. Even his jokes say stuff like "Xata confirmed scummier" rather than scum. Only people he's actually called scum are LSB and Gumshoe and that was when they were already under scrutiny.

I mean obviously right now I am not going "look guise, he is mafia!" else I'd push for his lynch. So I don't know.
What I am basically saying is that there has been zero conversation around the possibility and for the reasons I outlined, I think there's a not unreasonable chance he is mafia.

actually now I wish I hadn't brought that up, because Oats was one of the people that austin was apparently interested in. Meh.

I really don't know about Oats. I thought he was scum last game and he was just playing games. Maybe I should check him.
|
Why analyze a player when you can just CHECK HIM???!
|
i mean i was willing to VT myself on the chance that Oats was mafia, but overall i think he is town

I'm worried about the possibility of gf/framer type things, even though the roles don't really look like they allow for them. I can't really give any rationale behind this, other than the fact that there is one real investigative role (cop) and no other roles that look like they give mafia defence against a cop. That seems pretty harsh on mafia. So... yeah.
