to clarify i would say that post by BlueyD puts him on the scummy side of things. I'd vote to kill him, but he wouldn't be my first choice. In my personal experience mafia members like to come in after a ML and call people idiots despite not doing anything about it

like, if you thought it was a terrible idea then why weren't you around for almost a whole day to stop it from happening? more than likely is scum wanting to say "sheep me, i knew this was wrong" but instead of actually pushing the idea that it's wrong you wait until after the lynch when it can't be changed anymore to whine at us.

this guy is onto something, maybe i should be listening to kita! :OOOO

blueyd just straight up assumes we lynched odin because of rng? what if we found other information that pointed heavily towards him being scum and it looked really convincing, why would he be posting that we're idiots before actually reading?

Yeah I guess assuming the RNG did it was stupid on my part. The case by BH looked decent and I see how it would’ve made people switch. I just WTFed pretty hard when I came in to switch. Also sorry for continued absence, it will probably happen sometime early next week as well, I'm here tomorrow and for the weekend though.

---

Okay my first read of the night is on Steve. As annoying as he’s been and as anti-town as his spamming has looked D1, it seems likely to me now that Steveling is town. First, he’s stepping up in a major way. Second, who the hell softclaims vet (or whatever survival role he has) when a claimed townvig is tunneling him? Like, geript wanted to shoot him already, now he can do so with zero risk of killing a townie: either he confirms the survival role or he hits scum. Steveling is asking to get shot with his claim, I can’t see him doing that as scum because that’d be mind-blowingly stupid.

---

Cavalinho’s play is scummy, and here’s why: His words speak against a lynch on Odin (and generally for a lynch on burini), yet his vote is on Odin the whole time. THE WHOLE TIME.

On May 23 2014 02:58 Cavalinho wrote:
I might move my vote onto Odin if others do it.

I'd prefer mtam over Valenius right now, and unless I can ensure Odin's lynch over Val's, I won't move my vote.

Votecount at that moment: burini = 8, Val = 6, Odin = 4. Hey, burini is getting lynched, not Val!

On May 23 2014 04:31 Cavalinho wrote:
I'm getting the feeling that Odin is actually just afk and that we probably shouldn't be voting him.

This is what he says as he puts his vote on Odin. He's already backtracking.

On May 23 2014 04:43 Cavalinho wrote:
I only wanted to switch onto Odin if I could confirm that Odin would die over Val, because I don't think Val is scum. You can't just take one sentence out of context and say, "yes, this person is scum because of 'sentence.'"

(...)

Though I admit, your view on how Odin is an easy voteswitch is kind of what I was thinking. I don't really like this lynch because it's just such an easy lynch, but BH still made a good case I think.

Votes are counted 2 mins later, burini = 5, Val = 3, Odin = 13. Val is NOWHERE near getting lynched when he writes that. Unless I miscounted, Val has NEVER been over burini in votes. The best it got is within 1 vote of each other.

Says he doesn’t like the lynch but he’s on it himself.

So we're voting the guy who's gonna get modkilled over the guy giving the thread the middle finger? I wasn't sure of mtams alignment until reading these past few pages, look at the difference between Val and Mtam. Val has been open and reasonably helpful. Mtam on the other hand gives nothing good.

Let's let the mods do the work on Odin and lynch Mtam.

Is there any way we can get this wagon to flip again 5 minutes before deadline though?

Oh, now he seems to show willingness to last-minute flip... but his vote doesn’t move. burini and Odin are the only ones with 5+ votes so obviously there’s no real risk of lynching anyone else there and the "no lynching Val" excuse is entirely void, but the vote still stays on Odin.

Hm. That lynch result was unfortunate. Though the good news is that we have a lot of material to work with - these crazy late vote swaps always generate good information.

I'll be reading the buildup to the lynch tomorrow, as I just drove 8 hours and I'm dead tired. My first instinct is to look into players on the Odin wagon that followed Blazinghand's RNG lynch as opposed to lynching Odin for actually being suspicious of him. Yell0w stuck with his early RNG vote on Odin despite having several other scum-reads in his filter. Alakaslam never mentioned a scum-read on Odin either (other the RNG stuff). Not sure if that's just Slam being Slam, but that's objectively pretty terrible.

Obviously there are more people to look into than the two I mentioned above - Cavalihno's case looks interesting at first glance, and I'll need to verify that myself after I get some sleep. Tambo essentially wasting his vote late in the cycle is also very bad.

Since several people expressed concern about my own actions during the lynch, I can't defend myself other than simply not being able to post while driving on a highway. My travel schedule today was terrible, and I really wish I could have been around for the deadline.

Instead, I had a very short time to get acquainted with BlazingHand's case, saw a bunch of reputable players follow it, and kinda just went with the flow. Given the result and hindsight, I very much regret how it played out, but there was very little I could do today to help it.

Bluey, if you're going to accuse me, at least get the context of my posts correct.

First of all, I never really spoke against a lynch on Odin. Ever. I never even mentioned the lynch on Odin because I thought RNG was dumb and I thought Steveling was scum for some stuff he pulled early game. The only time I brought it up was because BH posted his case about his disconnect with the game and I thought that he had something there. Obviously, I was wrong and so was everyone else on that lynch.

Secondly, you took that third post out of context. Way out of context. That was an explanation for someone else and you said something about votecounts which doesn't really make any sense when quoted with the case you posted.

Finally, you act like I have to tunnel people out of the game. After my warning, I decided to try and make a conscious decision to clean my play up and just be nicer...Generally. I didn't/don't feel like tunneling another player out of the game and I had my doubts about the lynches from the start, with the exception of mtam. (Who is getting shot tonight.)

Your entire case boils down to "he was on a lynch he didn't like," and it's kind of true. Doesn't make me mafia, and doesn't indicate a scum mindset at all. Not liking lynch targets doesn't make me scum, and nothing you posted actually points to me being mafia in any way.

I feel like I've been really honest with what I've been doing and my intentions of trying to be a nicer/better player overall. I hope that quenches any concerns you have.

(Also apologies to the people I pissed off before. :< )

Really? Idk, maybe I've just been playing on tilt since the Yamato game. Like I don't really get how and when he comes out with his case because like he keeps on finding him scummy throughout the day but keeps on changing the reason and I don't get how he doesn't come out with some big case against his RNG target like way sooner.

Marv/Kita/BH off the top of my head.

The thing is, it doesn't really matter if they're town. Given that there are multiple factions, it's highly likely that mafia and town can have similar objectives (lynching other factions). If you want my surface reads on them...
BH = Town
Kita = Null
Marv = Slight-Town
