If you agree that the theme could be serious, consider that the first mission in Chrono Trigger is also in a church. The playable characters are Crono, Lucca and Frog. Of these, I feel Frog is the most important, lorewise, in this mission. I don't think an outright claim is in order, but it might be worth considering, if you're one of these chars, in particular Frog, and running for the campaign, to make a more serious go at becoming the party leader.
Frog, of all the characters, seems like he would wield the most influence in favour of town in the first mission of Chrono Trigger, assuming lore is an important aspect of this game. I swear to god if this gains traction I'm going to be pissed. Why?

I (if lynching exists in this game) want to lynch Clarity. 1 He's spamming. It's all asking people questions, promoting more spam. He is someone who is making this game very hard for town to keep up on. 2 Despite all his spam, he has very few ideas of his own. 3 The above quote: why would you call that a "sudden disappearance"? Please expand on your townread on marv. Would you like me to state for the third time why? I said, I agree with his stance on what we should be doing in regards to the Party Election. I agree with his stance on CJ looking back through CJ's filter. I wanted to have 3 people whom I believed to be town in my party, based on early play, so there it is. It's based on him being in my top 3 town reads at the moment. Why is it not ok for marv to be one of my town reads this early, when it's ok for you to sheep him? On November 22 2012 01:20 Clarity_nl wrote: I am sheeping marv. I believe that whether marv is town or scum, the way he plays scum from what I've read is he tries to lie as little as possible. I think consolidating at the moment is important so people can stop focusing on townreads and focus on scumreads, and I don't have time to read 3-4 games of every player that is being nominated if I still want to contribute today. Because in my sheeping I reasoned that even sheeping a scum marv on that issue would be fine. It says it right there, after the part you bolded. It's fine if marv is one of your town reads, but I don't like/understand your reasoning. The only thing you mention is that he has the same view on how to handle party creation as you, but I don't think there are many people who disagree with that... so why marv? I agree with Clarity here. Having a town read on marv isn't a bad thing, but your reasoning to justify that town read were extremely weak, and something scum marv is certainly capable of (and definitely WOULD be) doing. ANd it feels like your just picked out the vets, and came up with some kind of justification of why they could be town, rather than you actually believing that they are town. And its weird to me that you endorsed sandro as leader, when his plan was for him to be leader and then select 3 "newbies" of whom he was certain they were town, rather than vets, in an attempt to save the vets. But, in your ideal party, you would be taking all vets. Also, marv, why are you being so cavalier about a town read on yourself for some arguably terrible reasoning? Maybe I'm biased because I'm suspicious as fuck of anyone calling me town for reasons that I don't believe are strong enough to actually make that assessment, but your reaction toward it was...lacking, imo.
I more endorsed his plan of picking people he thought was town, regardless of whether or not they were vets. My party was my choice, what does it have to do with what he would do as leader? If I was leader, that's who I would pick, if he was, he would pick his choices. I've already stated that my support for him as party leader would be based on who he would pick. He actually hasn't been in the thread for a while, so as of now, I'm leaning more towards Syllo untill he can come back and offer more insight.

Oh uh CaveJohnson is the topic du jour? I'll get to that.
In other news, I'm pretty sure Kei is town at this point. He seems to care about the thread, though he can do that as either alignment. However, what convinces me he's town is a post he made towards iamperfection:
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=382922¤tpage=23#458
At this point in the game, he was under fire from myself and Z-Boson for a "contradiction" in his attitude on marv. In this position, it's not a natural impulse for scum to go and antagonize another player. Scum here want to buddy people instead of picking other fights. Not only does it go against a general mentality of mafia, but it goes against the more "cooperative" mafia-meta that Kei has.

Cave comes in calling some fluffly nublet scum without actually calling him scum and for nebulous reasons. Supremely easy target. "his mafia team could have told him to do that" is nonsense too. Easy target != wrong Kill the easy targets before end game or you lose its simple game logic. Trying to go around that on day 1 is idiotic and foolish and you should know better. obviously you misunderstand what I say, but do carry on. Easy target as in he's new and fluffy. Technically you're an easy target too, but I still think you're scum. The new and fluffy will have to die as well. We don't need complications in the end game. Excellent, more wanting to kill people for reasons that aren't that they are scum. New and fluffy != scum (to use your construction) and we want to kill scum, dear. Anything else? No point killing scum if you can't kill Lavos What's that got to do with being new and fluffy? New and fluffy are harder to read and likely to make mistakes. If they prove themselves to be town and competent somehow: Wonderful. However if they fail to do that they need to go down before the end game. So far I don't ever see the dinosaur changing and so he's on my needs to die list. Before you call me an easy target again I am including myself in the needs to die before end game list since I'm smurfing. fuck i was really happy that i was gonna get to play a themed game without drazerk in it but no Great minds think alike?

He starts by saying he wants newb townies to die, as in, get lynched or killed. When I ask him to elaborate he explains he doesn't want them around at lylo. I point out (although hopeless did this too, and much better) that there might not be such a thing as lylo in this game. Here's where he kind of flip flops and says "yeah maybe I've been going about the newbie thing the wrong way" Then he says he doesn't want newb townies around because they will make us fail missions. When I ask him about this he ignores the question and answers something else, and when it gets pointed out to him that he didn't answer my question, by both hopeless and myself, he stops posting. Hokay so
I just finished reading this massive thread
I also have yet to vote.
I am thus a swing voter and demand pandering.
As far as I can tell, there are three "real" campaigns (real meaning the candidate actually intends to get elected) - Sandroba, Syllogism, and Toad.
All three campaigns are based around the fundamental premise "i'm a vet, i'm town, i have good reads, and i'm self confident enough to take responsibility for my actions."
Unless I've missed something, that's pretty much 100% of syllogism's campaign. Sandroba has his "get some noobs semi confirmed" thing Toad says he'll talk a lot
Out of those, I gotta say Sandroba's got the lead on talking points, so I have questions for the other two:
Syllogism, it's been a pretty long time since you started your campaign. You said you weren't going to lock yourself in to your party or whatever early, but do you have anything more for us by now? Or is it 100% that you're running because you know you're town and you're still not sure of Sandroba?
Toad, why do you need to be the party leader to do that stuff you were saying you would do about getting people to talk about reads, and putting yourself under scrutiny so we get a better read on you? Shouldn't you be doing all that anyway, and why is it a campaign point?

I also think marv is way more egotistical as scum than he is as town, it's something about the "bwahahaha fools i'll kill you all" mentality. so the fact that he's not running for king of daventry makes me think he's probably town.

See this is why I haven't been talking, because that does actually seem pretty scummy from CJ. Why didn't you mention Marv in your explanation though? Are you trying to distance yourself from him or what? You mention Hopelessleader twice though. Especially since Marv was the person who was primarily pushing CJ, and you were just sheeping him, it seems a little weird not to even mention marv.

Then much later he returns with this gem of a post: On November 22 2012 07:03 CaveJohnson wrote:Show nested quote +On November 22 2012 06:51 marvellosity wrote:On November 22 2012 06:46 iamperfection wrote: @ Marv
What do you think of bios town read on you. I think it is bs and it seems like to me it was a pre calculated move to come into the thread with. I dont see how anyone can drop a strong town read and i can see you easily saying that quote in his post regardless of alignment
Bios post also doesn't say much at all just that he doesn't have a problem what is going on.
Im thinking scum Clarity - Cave is still bad or scum or both, and the important thing is that he doesn't get invited on today's event. Read my first post and pretty much the last page and a bit of discussion... Anyway I'm gonna sleep I'll probably cast my vote in the morning after I sleep on a few things. If you can figure out what he means I would love to know.
Because hopeless was there when I was interacting with CJ, marv wasn't. Yes, marv did lay the groundwork on this, I don't deny that. I was kind of looking into him when I mentioned (much earlier) the fact that he gave an actual hp number though, sure it's just 999 but I figured I could get him out of the woodwork.
