gg srsly. Thx Hosts for game - was fun. I think it was a little balanced in favor of scum though. Yes... That's what your day 1 was... WP actual scum team.
FLAWLESS VICTORY??
I'm amazed cccalf was actually scum in the end

Can someone explain to me how soft-claiming your nationality is fishing? Yeah it makes it easier for scum to reach their alternate win condition but how does it make sense as scum? I mean people aren't going to straight up claim their nationality just because you do?
I didn't understand that part of the case and it seemed to be what got everyone off side with C_C. I had the impression he was playing "badly" so as to survive the night. He is a relative veteran in this game and so for day 1 it wasn't a terrible strategy. Of course VE went full throttle and that sealed the deal.
Were there four blues in this game? If so that gives scum a 40% chance of nuke success night 1. Pretty high if you ask me.

I had the urge to actually say something like "FOR THE SOVIET UNION!" or something like that, or if I was US I might have said "Down with the commies!."
That was what was going through my head when I saw his flag honestly >.<

Huge credit to gonzaw for suggesting Nuke BH, shoot VE, but don't let it get to your head gonzo :p Remember your first suggestion of the night was "shoot froggy" until I said that we NEEDED BH or VE dead that night or else we'd be fcked.
As usual I am terribad at blue sniping. I was right about sloosh, but as probulous points out, that might have simply been luck. Very good planning this game overall; gonzaw I hope you know that I was reading and taking in all that you were writing in scum QT even if I didn't completely respond to all of your things. The coordination between myself/gonzaw/bluelightz was killer; this was definitely one of my favorite scum games to play.
My D1 play I was essentially trolling; DYH pointed out that being overly playful was a scumtell, but I think I was able to mask it well enough, esp. with the chaos that ensured over the cycle.
I felt bad for shooting VE a bit though since he always dies. VE policy kill N1?? xp Also felt bad for C_C getting lynched. Ur still my original scum bro <3
Also, for some weird reason out of the 7 games I've played, I've been scum 4 out of 6. And I'm 4-0 with scum. It's coming to the point where you guys should just policy lynch me -_-

Were there four blues in this game? If so that gives scum a 40% chance of nuke success night 1. Pretty high if you ask me. Maybe it was scum favoured 4v10, the nuke, town had 1x doc if multiple people came to the same conclusion, then a 1-shot doc if one of them died, as well as two essentially useless DT's AND two alternate ways scum could win the game.
That said, it wasn't unwinnable I can't say I was aiming to survive, I was just a little busy at the time, and it seemed like an efficient way to get an opinion out there for people to judge me on If I could take one thing back, I wouldnt have accused the guy who was defending me
|
Don't worry ET, we are both "scum policy lynches" from now on :D
So what would have happened if we killed froggy? We would have killed the US DT that's what.
That wouldn't have been too shabby for a N1 kill either don't you think? >_>

Yeah that is not good enough to lynch someone. To me it was either a dumb joke (given it was a chinese flag) or it was a soft-claim. All that does is make his nationality clear. Well that makes it easier for scum to kill his team and probably would keep him alive overnight. As scum it makes sense to keep people alive who's nationality you know. You can then shoot into the unknowns 50/50 and if they shot an SU they only need to find one more to win.
I mean all it does it make him a little more secure overnight, or possibly insecure if a SU was lynched. I don't see how scum could use soft-claiming as a way of outing people. The case made no sense as it was mostly based off of this assumption that somehow soft-claiming is scummy.
|
@VE, if you hadn't gone all hissy on BH that night, he might've protected you, b/c though ur day play didn't look scummy, at night you became stubborn. that part where he said "I'd eat my hat if someone shoots you" definitely looked like he was doing a metagame. Incidentally it is that, along with his fixation on vigs that made gonzaw conclude he was blue. If you had just posted a read or two (on say, me or gonzaw) this could've been quite a different game.
To people who thought C_C / sinensis were scum; there are times where reading meta are really helpful in discerning alignment, but you have to be very careful with that depending on the person's playstyle.

There's no way scum could know if I was/wasn't As it turned out, I was going to post that regardless of role PM.

@gonzaw wouldn't be shabby at all. like I said, I'm terribad at blue sniping :D
I think something that would've helped town is that instead of there being the 2 weak DTs, have 2 vigs who have to choose the same target for there to be a death. OO something like this:
President of the United States - Has power over a nuke, but due to the "Two Man Rule" (2 people needed to confirm a nuke launch), this nuke can only be fired if the "Secretary of Defense" chooses the same target at night. If the "Secretary of Defense" dies, then the President gains free reign over nuking privilages, but if a town-aligned target is killed, the President is impeached (suicide vig mechanic).
Secretary of Defense has same role.
Wouldn't that be badass??? If town had this, then cccalf might've died N1, or Bluelightz N2. Would've given them a chance.
|
The problem with me posting my reads at night was that they had to A) be dragged out of me, rendering them less meaningful and B) if I wasn't up for being NK'd (because I, you know, led a town-lynch to conclusion and was lynchbait for instance) and I'd posted my reads on you or gonzaw, then you might THEN decide to kill me.
Of course, then I might have had medic protection.
All and all, I'm satisfied with my play. Having sank quite a few towns with my shitty town play, I think making scum really fucking nervous every game is a vast improvement.

you get townies nervous too VE

also I don't get why people call you all sorts of weird nicknames. I called you mr. wup for teh lulz, but gonzaw called you jhonny in QT, and VE called you jdub(???)

I command obedience...I expect loyalty.

jdub = j w = johnnywup
It was a nickname that started in C9++.

On April 04 2012 08:41 VisceraEyes wrote:I command obedience...I expect loyalty.
That's part of the problem
You did the same thing in C9++ day 1 and it makes it hard for other people to get heard. It can help clarify the alignment of the person you are targeting but it can also soak up all of Day 1 for nothing. I mean there were no other candidates Day 1 except C_C and you made it so that no-one could realistically vote elsewere. BH will do what BH does, because he is BH. But others don't have that same conviction and your insistence on drowning out discussion meant that the C_C vote provided zero information.
It is one thing to get people talking and persuade them to follow your case; it is something completely different to badger them into submission. BH was right to push you back for your play. Note that despite your insistence on loyalty not one of your other reads were taken seriously after you died. You were right but ineffectual, I think if you stopped the antics when BH pushed back more people will listen to you.
|
Yeah, fair enough. But as active as a poster I am, my only choices are pretty much "Lead Discussion" or "trolololol" in most cases.
And when I have as strong a read as I did on C_C, it wasn't even about getting people to take my reads seriously anymore...it was about getting the scum to hang. After C_C flipped, I knew that any reads I posted were worthless unless I survived the night and could continue playing. Like, if I'd survived, scum would have probably opposed me fast and hard right? So regardless of the fact that I had led a scum-lynch D1, I'd be under heavy scrutiny D2 as a result and my reads would have actually had weight.

You should have told me so last game, I wouldn't have tried to help you so much like a fucking idiot. this was pretty ironic looking back on it lol

It is Jdub, nice call on ET.

The problem I saw with C_C posting the flag was the potential for role fishing, not because it revealed his nationality. BH was completely right that (until the diagram) posting the flag told you nothing about C_C's nationality. However, just by posting it C_C was risking people's first reactions being revealing enough that scum could use it to inform their kills.
It is not even that it is likely that something like that could happen. It is that C_C even opened that can of worms that is anti-town.
