I like how mafia overlapped their numbers. It was a shame you never got to use it in argument though

I like how mafia overlapped their numbers on the one number I just happened to pick :\

Oh. And I will consider this as a victory, given that I wasn't lynched.

Good job town, but I think luck certainly played a factor.

I think Mafia 2 DT was only overpowered because mafia hadn't taken many misinformation roles. GF/framer type roles have a bigger chance of affecting listchecks than single target checks. As mafia, I would have tried to take Mafia 2 DT and just spread around lists that are *almost* correct. The town seemed tied up by the listchecks a lot, and didn't really assume the possibility of framer/GF type roles, so it's lucky there weren't any.

I'm still mindblown as to how town managed to pick so many unique roles. I think the only reason Mafia 2 DT was picked by so many people is because the M2DT/Vote Rigger combo was discussed in depth pre-pick. We somehow managed to get a huge number of investigative roles, including the strong ones (Modern Detective, NKVD, Parity Cop, Role Cop), and I think there's a good amount of luck involved there.

On the flip side, people not having time to be fully invested early on made it tougher for town. Incog's scant posting on Day 1 made me very wary (and I still think his early posting habits were pretty scummy), which unfortunately let Caller and Ace bandwagon pretty easily. I do remember noting at one point that Caller said "Let's stop thinking and just lynch Incognito," and from that point on I was suspicious. Similarly, KillerSOS being away for two days got him killed unnecessarily. If he had just claimed earlier, we would have had time to at least get a new target. PYP Tracker isn't easily faked by mafia, and it isn't useful for them at all.

I personally think I played kinda meh. I focused on posting habits a little too much, I think, and I was too daunted by the sheer number of possible mafia roles. I also got too easily thrown off by the clusterfuck of finger pointing on Day 1, since I usually take it upon myself to read and absorb everything in the thread.

On the activity levels: having a game that is so overwhelmingly veteran helped a lot. Pretty much everyone in this game knew how to play (and play well at that). The spammyness of other games was avoided because everyone kept things concise and neat. Personally I would love for all games to be like this.

Agreed, I also feel like I learned a lot, it was a really, really good game, and I want to thank everyone who played, and Ver/fw for hosting.

I would like to add that I was very surprised nobody busted GMarshal as soon as Kurumi suicided. It was obvious that the mafia's worst nightmare (other than the inventors who both died) was a ton of votechecks clearing players and boxing them in. Yet they decide to suicide the king instead of the one doing votechecks? As soon as the mafia revealed that they had a way to kill a player regardless of any protections on that player, the town should have been immediately suspicious of a player with a role that strong. The whole point of taking a role like that is to take out a protected Mafia 2 DT. Yet the mafia allowed him to give the town votechecks for days. That should set off alarm bells.

In general, I was very impressed with the role selection stage by the town. They got a lot of really strong roles without much overlap. Also, they managed to grab most of the best information roles. Node's pick and Dreamflower's pick in particular were total coups considering their draft positions. Conversely, I didn't like the mafia role selections anywhere near as much. I liked the strategy of deliberately clashing and then directing attention towards the top of the list, but I don't think the mafia chose the best roles/ played out their plan properly. In particular, while I loved Caller's NRA member pick, I didn't feel he played scummy enough to direct much attention from detectives over the course of the game. I can understand the reasoning behind the Admiral Ackbar pick, but it really hurt the mafia. tnkted's bus driver and Chezinu's CPR doc were both really nice for the mafia. I didn't like Ace's Capitalist pick at all however. Originally he picked roleblocker, and I think that would have been far better for the mafia. The biggest hit the mafia took was nobody selected traitor. Honestly, Ver and I balanced this game around an assumption that traitor would be selected (considering it was picked by multiple people in both PYP2 and PYP3).

Really? I thought Caller was suspicious enough that I had decided to avoid checking him on Night 3, because I thought he'd be framed and/or otherwise screwed with. I was going to check Radfield, I think.

I was talking to others for the past few days. We all agreed that if Foolishness isn't the Traitor, he really played a garbage game. It almost feels like a different person.

GM being alive this far is like screaming I'm the Mole, but no one noticed until the very very end. Qatol already pointed out why, so I won't be following up with all the small details.

After Day 4, some "facts" that were used by the remaining players on analysis were just false. That made me cringe. Good thing Radfield was able to pick up most of the "common sense" from there. I just hope he can doubt himself less after making a statement throughout the game.

I thought about it, but it is less appealing in this game, and is harder to be recruited.

Oh I should also note that Fishball and Incognito had excellent role selections. The town was really hurting for some KP of its own in the midgame. They had Chezinu, Ace, Caller, and tnkted figured out mostly via votechecks but simply couldn't kill them fast enough. I was very pleased to see that the town had a little KP, though it was disappointing that the town allowed Ace to feel comfortable getting away with a vigi hit on an obviously pro-town (the Mafia 2 DT / vote rigger plan was a giveaway) player who controlled that KP.
