Day 5: Stranded ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/XmdS4.jpg) It's looking more and more as though we've been stranded here. When the host of the game didn't show up for the challenge yesterday morning, we put it down to happenstance. He was late, delayed, sick maybe. Nothing too inconceivable could have happened, he just wasn't on the beach at the right time. We spent the next few hours making jokes about how he'd fallen into quicksand, been eaten by a jungle cat, lighthearted stuff. However, as noon rolled around and the sun rose to its apex, we began to feel more uncertain as to the whereabouts of our host and link to the outside world. These first waves of trepidation were triggered by the agitated mutterings we observed between some of the members of the filming crew who remained with us. They seemed uneasy, refusing to answer any of our questions, and quickly retreating to the sanctuary of their trailers when we began to press them too much. Apprehension played across the faces of my tribe-mates, as we tried to make sense of what was happening. Gathered with my tribe at our shelter, and impatience getting the better of me, I decided that we should find the host ourselves and elected myself to lead a small expedition. The rest of the tribe agreed to the plan, and after quickly selecting two others to join me, we set off. The production trailers were somewhat removed from the beach, and so it was a several hours walk to reach them. The passage of time and physical exertion didn't do much to relieve us of our current anxiety, and if anything, the heat of the sun bearing down on us only served to exacerbate the strain already on our minds. Evening was fast approaching when we finally reached the trailers and, to our dismay, discovered them empty. A search through the interiors revealed that the production crew had left in a hurry, shooting schedules scattered across the floors, and unedited tapes still running on several televisions. We felt the first tinges of true panic as we ran to the nearby airstrip. Panting, we emerged through the bushes and into the clearing, to discover the small aircraft which had ferried us here was absent as well. They were gone, and my tribe along with the members of the crew who had not been with them, had been left behind. It was night by the time we finally arrived back at camp. In hushed tones we relayed the verification of our fears to the rest of the tribe, who were seemingly unsurprised, before they told us of what had transpired while we were gone. Nearing the end of the game, our food supplies were beginning to run low, and abandoning any adherence they might have had to the rules of Survivor, my tribe had approached the film crew and asked if they would share the food they had stored in their trailers. They would not. Again, they asked for food, and that was when it was revealed to my tribe that the rest of the crew had left without word early that morning, with no further communication being able to be established with the outside world. In light of this, the remaining members of the crew made it clear they would rather keep their food to themselves. This angered two of the members of my tribe, who decided to take matters into their own hands. When they had the chance they assaulted one of the camera operators alone in the jungle, and threatened that worse would come if they didn't begin to share their resources. In response, the crew had locked themselves into their trailers, brandishing several rifles usually reserved for dangerous wildlife if any member of the tribe came too close. Needless to say, relations with the crew are quickly are quickly deteriorating, and this is the situation we find ourselves in as the sun begins to rise once again. Left alone on this god-forsaken island, with little food and no way of knowing what lies ahead of us, the only other inhabitants of the island being a group of scared men huddled in a trailer holding rifles. I can only hope that someone comes back for us, that contact can be made with someone off the island. But hope will not feed us, will not protect us, and so we must prepare for the coming days and the uncertainty which comes with them. Coagulation didn't submit anything either, so if he's still in right now then he's also out since the two lowest scores were going to be removed from the game. If coagulation was already voted off, then it's GMarshal who is the second person going home since he had the lowest score. I know, I know! I suggest we modkill Darmo without prejudice as he obviously has RL things to deal with. We can instate a new host that everyone agree's to. I have the Idol, we should be able to work out our inventories and the SKs can PM him who they are. I vote for LemonWalrus - i know Coag said he had reservations but being dead i think i can get away with this. If anyone else is willing to see this through or wants to suggest another host please reply. Darmo - if you want to keep hosting let us know before we modkill you  | ||

The challenge is easy, write a fun/challenging riddle and post it in the thread, since I'm dead after darm gets back I will trade the winner all my remaining possessions, riddles due by Monday at 11 EST, the winner will be determined by votes from players already dead/out of the game, by astral tables, rolling dice or on the merits of their riddle. Bonus points if the riddle has something to do with mafia or SC, include the answer in spoilers please. gogogogo? | ||

I need to complain here - I was thinking sand and didn't say because as a theoretical physics student i need to point sand is not in fact 'innumerable' - it is quite finite and can be counted.. Now I am FULLY aware that everyone is going to disagree and I'm not complaining about the riddle. I'm just saying it's prejudiced against physicists. That is all | ||

That is all Alright, well come back with a number and we'll talk. :p Also, the number of grains of sand would be constantly changing, as it is either created, destroyed, or transformed, and so given the time needed to count it, you would not be able to achieve any accurate number. So while finite, it is innumerable in that it cannot be accurately counted for all intents and purposes. | ||
