What reason would that be? And from reading about some previous cauldron lightings the flame has been split before.

I can see that some people might not have understood all of it, and that's a shame. I thought that was really enjoyable, which is rare when Britain is concerned... I'm usually embarrassed by big British events ![]()

Meanwhile, he makes a living by still being an incredibly prolific musician and composer, working in all kinds of genres, even classical music. He just enjoys making music. I never liked him that much as a person, but can't deny his talent.

He was the third most talented of the Beatles and only still gets gigs because 1) He's not dead 2) He's not Ringo. He should be on package holiday cruise tours and doing weekend gigs at Butlins, not at the Olympics.

On a different not nothing about Muse makes it typically British. As much as i dont like Arctic Monkeys they got a yorkshire accent and have that indie vibe that is typical of modern British music. Again i dont like them but i can kinda understand why they got them. Still think Elton John would have been a better choice.

Now on with the games. I need to get some sleep first though. Was 3AM in the morning for me when the ceremony started.

Imagine 'The Universal' belting out instead of that Arctic Monkeys track... awesome thinking about it. Missed opportunity imo.

Everyone can have his opinion, but I hope that his recent performances/compositions do not downgrade his past work to you or that being dead makes you more talented that someone alive.
