And plz no golf in the Olympics. Btw now that we are at it, remove football, tennis and basketball from the program. No one really cares who wins in these sports at the Olympics.

Tennis however i think fits in quite well. Golf will be interesting. I actually like golf and i'm quite looking forward to it ![]()

Olympics is a gigantic business as well as competition.

Would a footballer rather win the Olympics than say EC, WC, CL or even the national championship?? NO! Would a tennisplayer rather win the Olympics than a gran slam? ofc not. Maybe its okay for basket to be there. I´m not sure about that one tbh.

Olympic football is great for 4 reasons: a) gives younger players on national teams stacked with talent a chance to compete internationally in a big tourney. b) gives the south americans a chance for an international tourney in the year of the euros c) gives smaller teams that are not likely to win the world cup a chance at an international tourney (Mexico) d) more competitive than young people tournaments, more prestigious and therefore better for scouting and giving experience to younger potential stars.

If you look at golf, it has a very good media cover but it is very mostly played by rich people in rich countries. Not really what I would call a popular sport. How much does a round of golf cost? How much for a year if you play 1 or 2 rounds a day? And a full set of clubs that are good enough to be reasonably competitive? How much does it cost to be a soccer player?

The argument that sports that have other far more prestigious major professional leagues shouldn't be in the Olympics is hardly an elitist one. Whether it's right or not is a different argument.
