Yeah, that should be a great game, especially if Iceland will play like this then, hoping for Iceland to one up from the last olympics and take the gold.

I hope Teddy Riner powers through everyone and that we don't have a surprise winner like today in Women's -78kg. That grab on the Arai-gochi from the Brits was godlike. She was burnt, technically dominated but she pulled that. Outstanding piece of courage. I recommend everyone to watch it.
Rio de Janeiro will be our year, with Pavia, Gneto, Tcheuméo, Riner and Legrand all hopefully at their best plus some new blood. I'm looking forward to that already.

I have heard Computer games and powersmoking being equated when it comes to their chance of entering the olympics. Bridge and Chess has a far better chance of making it in and they are not even close to being considered viable... Also, source? (And no "they say" in FOX news is another way of saying "something completely unconfirmed and mostly brought in for comedic value". You seriously need a FOX news to real world translator for everything you see on FOX)

one of these might be in 2020 baseball karate roller sports softball sport climbing squash wakeboarding wushu beach soccer
Really hope it's squash. Maybe it has to wait until Pakistan/India put some money into it. Climbing would be cool though.

Dont count on it. India going pretty hard at stuff like Field Hockey and Badminton recently in the last decade or so(among other things), they dont have the pedigree in Squash to focus on it at this point . And Pakistan has no money to put in it, hasnt for a while now. Lots of players, but inadequate facilities and oppurtunities means most of the top prospects take scholarships in the US instead of turning pro and then just graduate into normal jobs.

That is Indeed Correct..Playing any kind of Sport here except Cricket is frowned Upon and there is Severe Parental pressure to earn money and get a Job rather than Pursue Sporting Talents..

South Korean medal count is ridiculous considering how small their population is.

south korea isnt THAT small, actually :D

The US of A is showing is power, they are gonna win this Olympic with China in second place since most of China strong sports have already finished but US still got alot more to grab their medals.

hard to say at this point. athletics is about to start which is huge and SK isn't known for. Expect countries like GB, Germany, Aus, Russia, USA to really pick it up in the 2nd half.

I don't get hand ball myself the court seems really small its like lacross with a smaller court, no contact, and no sticks. Oh joy haha, Maybe that's just my ignorance of the game but it seems it'd be 10x as good if they were beating the shit out of each other with tackles and shit.

Woot Japan still third in total medal count lol

It depends who you compare them to. If you compare South Korea to industrialized nations, they're not that impressive. If you compare them to third world nations, then they are impressive. South Korea's population is less than the UK but it's higher than Canada's and Australia's. Australia is doing a very good job relative to its population, too. Both Koreas seem to take the Olympics more seriously than most other nations, too.
Now, if you want to talk about underachievers relative to population, India, Pakistan and Indonesia are going to be at the top of the list.

India maybe, Indonesia and Pakistan dont have the resources to develop olympic sports and its not going to happen for a long time if ever. So I wouldnt call it underperforming because theres no expectation. They've already fallen away in their niche events since the turn of the century. Its all going to be downhill for the later two.
India can do well though, they wouldve expected better.

We need to add American Football to the Olympics so Drew Brees and Brady can score 100 points on Zimbabwe and get another free gold.
