well if you look on the typical male gymnast body and female gymnast body you'll notice how differently they are developed.
Man's upperbody is ridiculously muscled compared to their kind of light feet. This is to stay as light as possible while doing all those crazy things in the air, so being strong in your arms/shoulders/spine
Now with ladies its the other story - they need to work on their feet to be able to jump like that and they actually don't need an upperbody strength while they need that amazing streching (which is the opposite of having big muscles).
So ... it is possible (of course!) for female gymnasts to do rings, but boy would they suck in their own exercises.

Well beastly day for US with 6 golds and GB also shot up with their 3.

Phelps, Le Clos & Cavic in the 100m fly final. Let's see if Phelps or Cavic get their vengeance from each of their close call losses.

what i would really like to see is male gymnasts doing uneven bars

If they raise the height of the lower bar, it'd be a sight to see. High bar by itself is one of the more exciting gymnastic evens.

Yes it happened from Athens to Beijing, but it did cut 2 events from the velodrome. At the same time the velodrome this year has included the farces called sprints and a pseudo-sprint called keiring which are some of the worse races since they favour almost exclusively the same riders as individual sprint. There is something missing in the velodrome. Particularly the individual timetrial and maybe pointrace/madison. Only focusing on 3 almost pure sprints(sprint, team sprint and keiring), 1 team pursuit and 1 multi-parter of which none of the parts are represented as individual discipines - which probably makes it almost impossible to cover in courtries with no velodrome tradition (having to explain 6 different and sometimes complex disciplines for 2 medal races is a tough sell even though omniums parts are interesting). Sailing has something different almost every year at the moment. Some are improvements others are uninteresting. Most of all it needs a bit more consistency.

Sure, things like the medleys could probably go, but there really isn't a great reason to take them out other than just trying to actively cut down on medal numbers. And barring people like Phelps, there is still a lot of variance between winners of a lot of these events.

Not relevant to the current Olympics but this report lists Tetris, Starcraft and League of Legends as possible future "floating" Olympic Events as soon as 2020!
http://video.foxnews.com/v/1768214448001/
The video starts with previously removed and obscure olympic events and then moves to talk about the future olympic events including: Golf, Rugby, Tetris, SC, LoL
What do you guys think?
TL;DR >> SC2 and LoL possibly in future Olympics

That would be awful. It won't happen. This is why E-sports is a bad phrase. These are games, not sports. I'd have the same reaction to seeing Chess and Checkers in the Olympics. Tetris would be especially egregious, as would any game where you have a computer rolling the dice towards the outcome.

yes CCstealth, handball is a very clever sport despite it being so physical.

Men Handball is pure adrenaline, watching Iceland versus Sweden and at one point it was like the NBA, incredibly fast.
Just awesome.

Handball is wonderful, and it's great to see Iceland doing so well against Sweden, last time we won them in a major tournament was in 1964! looking good for a win tonight.
