[S3 Worlds] Quarterfinals - Page 293
Forum Index > LoL Tournaments |
Two things as public notice: 1. + Show Spoiler [Quarterfinals 1 spoiler] + Congrats to Fnatic, they played superbly and glgl to them in the Semis! No one is saying that Fnatic only won because of the level 1 in Game 3. Please keep the nationalistic statements out of our subforum. 2. Riot's Worlds format is atrocious. Let's not beat a dead horse here. I will certainly be talking to Riot's eSports dept about it in the near future. I simply ask everyone to be civil. Humble in victory, graceful in defeat. Enjoy the games~ -Neo, Sept 23rd, 3:20 PM PDT, page 120

OMG? lol. You have zero basis to go on to say OMG would be stronger vs. international teams. They just got in off their Spring split performance. And given WE's history of performing much better in BoX matches than either of these 2 teams, they probably could have qualified if they got into the qualifier.

I think the LD game 2 was pretty indicative though. I mean it's easy to easy Royal is stronger than LD too, but the trollcomp stomp?

I mean it's easy to easy Royal is stronger than LD too, but the trollcomp stomp? At the same time though, SKT almost gifted OMG the first game with the really dumb play by bengi, and then the second game OMG basically trained and lost 7 kills, 3 towers and an inhib, and SKT did a really good job closing it out after that. SKT was unprepared for the aggressiveness, and OMG had a brain fart. Going into a multigame series though, SKT would probably be more solid, because no team other than OMG has done the tower dive after one buff thing this tournament, or really in Korea. I'll take tabe's word that they can't beat skt in scrims though.

royal has an at least comparably mechanically skilled adc and unique teamcomps; with a more ad-centric comp, i could see them pushing SKT further, even if they are losing scrims hard atm.

I mean it's easy to easy Royal is stronger than LD too, but the trollcomp stomp? It was an unconventional team comp, but I wouldn't say it was a troll comp. Aatrox, Cassio, and jungle Yorick are all stuff they've played before. Aatrox going full damage was really just a function of OMG doing so well early and snowballing plus Aatrox being Aatrox. That passive means he can afford to build a bit squishier than more melees. Support Veigar+Nid was new, but tbh Veigar is not a terrible support pick given how strong event horizon is. Nid just meshed well with their poke-ish comp.

I'm convinced that OMG is good against international teams if only because San looks like a superstar against them, but is the visibly weak link in a China vs. China match. With that said I don't know how you can say OMG looks weak to intra-China when they won LPL Spring and have a 78% winrate in both seasons combined. They don't seem as strong in BO series though.

Again, any and all comparisons are inherently on a relative basis, and I don't think it' s a stretch to say OMG is weaker against Chinese teams than against international teams, especially judging from this tournament + Chinese qualifiers.

I think they've had some problems with Royal and WE in BO series, but they smashed PE and iG in playoff series. I think OMG's BO1 is very good. The other 3 teams in LPL are/were punching bags.

How so? Considering we haven't seen any other chinese team playing against international teams. While OMG did obviously good in the group stage, and relatively bad vs royal, there isn't really any information we can get from that how OMG's performance against international teams is compared to - and that's the important thing - other chinese teams. I mean the first explanation for OMG's performance that comes to mind is that the chinese teams that are strong vs OMG are just better than the international teams OMG has played against. (except SKT, which is a 2 game sample size)
