1) Both Varus/Leona had both exp advantage from the kills, and were in lane for longer than Corki/Zyra. Corki/Zyra cannot beat a higher level Varus/Leona at any time of the lane. Yes, both Varus/Leona were level 2 faster, and could push the lane in.
2) Yes, health pots make a difference, given Vlad's early game harass is fairly weak, and especially so after Shen gets Feint up. The lane for Vlad is favorable from levels 1-2/3ish, and from level 7-9 onwards provided he can keep the lead. 2 health pots is more than enough for Shen to stay in lane from Vlad's early game harass, especially with a Dorans Shield on top.
