From what I understand LCS this week is played with pre-nerf Nunu (?), but on live I'd say Lulu and Sona. Blitz and Taric are still good solo queue supports of course.

No. They're both weak early and by the time Kass has 6 Ryze is typically strong enough to not get bursted. Ryze is also stronger late game.
Not to mention Kass makes zero sense on scarra who likes to afk farm mid and never roam.

I'm not too great but from my experience Ryze has an advantage before 6 but Kassadin has an advantage from 6 to Ryze getting catalyst. This is mitigated if Kassadin gets harrassed too heavily early on, which I guess is what happened here. The TOO camping at the right time also helped Regi bypass this window of vulnerability.
