Never mind, he just went ManNooN mode.

The dives by NJS are too good... can't believe Blaze is still in this.

The thing is, I'd expect TL to have a much higher percentage of viewers with the necessary understanding to appreciate top-level play, so it's more or less expected that a lot of TL viewers would enjoy even seeing two "faceless" teams that play at the top level. But this isn't going to hold to communities that have lower average skill level, where the majority of viewers don't appreciate the nuances.

And even on TL we have players like Shake that have that high-level understanding and STILL value the emotional investment in a team they care about over seeing top level play.

In fairness, I'm also tabbing away to watch the SC2 occasionally where I would not if CLG was in the finals. Admittedly, part of it is because I lack free time, so I when I sit down and watch stuff I want to make sure I'm being entertained.

We could theorise maybe it's because "casulols" are less invested in high level play? Look at the difference in LoL and SC theorycrafting, discussion and math stuff. (I've never seen something like this written for LoL) But then again maybe I'm reading too much into it. Maybe in a year's time people will know more about Korean teams and care more.

As for the game at hand, NaJin should be slowly trying to chisel away at that tower. Not all dive in man-mode.

It's sadly just a fact that people are less engaged when they lack an emotional connection to the players or teams involved. As Yango has said, the real challenge to LoL is if Koreans/Other Asians take over everything and make it harder for people to want to care. I mean, look at MLG SC2. There's only been one foreign winner of an MLG ever since the Koreans arrived (HuK) and one other Finals with a Foreigner (Naniwa). Ever since 2012, no foreigner has made it to the Finals at all.

Yes, completely agree. I didnt play sc2 at all besides campaign and customs but I really enjoyed all the tournaments since beta. Since all these koreans popped up it just stopped being interesting because of the lack of connection with the players. Not that I am discriminating, it's just that they don't speak english and so it's harder for me to understand them and like their personality. The same holds true for football, I can't quite like some foreign players and teams (mostly eastern europeans and russians) although I believe they play phenomenally.

The fact that LoL is so much funier to play than it is to watch is due to the game being more fun to play than sc2 imo :p

I fail to understand why personality matters more than good play. It just doesn't make sense.

Watching tournaments and streams is about entertainment rather than education for the most part. That means you want to have an emotional connection to the media at hand for maximum impact (just like how you want to connect with the characters of a book or movie). Feeling the highs as your team wins, or the sad swings when they lose; it makes the experience more intense.

Exactly. If everyone was rooting for winners, last year everyone would be a Barcelona fan, this year everyone would be a Chelsea fan. Yet, why are so many ppl Mourinho fans if he doesnt win the biggest league since 04?

Which league are you talking about? I would assume the Champions League but Mourinho won that in 2010 with Inter.

Oh right :p. doenst matter, argument still applys cause everyone loves him in London and he didnt win it at chelsea

Apparently I'm the only person that likes to watch the best teams and players. Strange

You're not the "only one". But I don't think its strange to expect your point of view to be in the minority.

Not the only, just probably in the minority. There are some people that watch the game for just their love of the game; but for a lot of people who watch any sort of competitive activities, they follow a few teams and individuals most closely. When the people that they have made some sort of emotional connection with are gone, they lose interest. I don't consider it bad or good, it's just how most of us work.

That isn't right at all. While CLG.EU hasn't been around forever, the people in it have.
I know wickd has been around for a very long time.

The rest of blaze though? Eh... Not much exposure to na.

In open ground najin has the better scaling team imo. It doesn't even matter if they suicide into base turrets at this point.
