Also the whole fuss about Azubu and WE watching the minimap behind their shoulders is really sad. No character, I'm pretty sure CLG.eu didn't do that.

The ironic thing is if this was KESPA tournament AF would 100% get Disqualified for this.

what can you do besides just blame Riot for completely fucking up the stage setting, I've never seen an esports venue with a big screen behind the players instead of in front.

Riot released a statement saying that the players were told not to watch the screen and that if they do they would get disqualified, but that they had a lot of people watching the players making sure they face the computer and that, according to them, WE never turned themselves...
So the pic didn't happen.

For more exactitude :
Statement From RiotTiza, lead referee for the event
As the lead referee for this event, let me respond.
We keep a constant watch on all the players on stage at all times. We have cameras as well as live people walking onto stage to keep tabs in everything. All players are told that they need to remain sitting, facing forward, and with headphones on at all times, including during pauses. I can personally confirm that no WE player looked at the minimap at any point during the match.
Players make eye contact on stage fairly regularly. Team WE in particular talked directly to each other a good amount. A single, limited camera view with a field of a few feet is not enough to determine where a someone is looking on a cross-stage scale. We directly monitor players to assure this is not the case, and maintained due diligence at all times over the course of the event.
Say what you like about WE's gameplay, but they did not jeopardize their chances of staying in the tournament by looking at the minimap.

I've been defending Riot regarding the disconnects but they simply fucked up by choosing not to use booths. Sure people love seeing CLG EU singing Eye of the Tiger as extra content, but is that worth sacrificing the integrity of the tournament? Hell no.

Not to mention that most of the crowd interaction could have been done in booths as well.

If riot has a giant screen behind the players, without a delay on then Riot is just asking players to peek at the screen.

How do they explain the Azubu Frost pic then? They did ping top for basically no reason after the game was unpaused. Either way even if TSM got the first blood on Frost's support trying to ward it wouldn't have been enough to snowball anything.

Did they have audio recorded? It's pretty easy to prove if it happened if so.
Not like they would release the audio if they were caught anyway. I don't think any teams would risk Riot's ire to bring up any of these issues into the public either, considering they will be getting salaries from Riot directly.

As the Riot bashing seems to continue i'll repost :

Could we stop bashing Riot for a second, they are providing a free game, with a free stream, quality of the event is what it is, you think it's stupid: don't watch it.

Let's say you're a girl (viewer) and I (Riot) invited you for dinner at my place.

The dinner is a not as good as you expected, the steak is too cooked and I took ages in the kitchen,
At the end of the meal, you might :

- decide that I am still a cute guy that tried hard and that I deserve a blowjob after-all and stay
- decide that I am a total failure for missing the cooking of a gorgeous steak and decide to leave fast with a friendly advice on how I should use my oven next time.
- post-done the whole BJ plan to a future dinner, with the hope that it will be better next time

But simply spending the rest of the night sitting on my couch bitching about how the steak is better at your mom's/ex(Valve) is just being a moron.

Probably you should stop introducing blowjobs in your analogies. They'd get across more easily.

He is literally asking the community to suck Riot's cock.

let's not forget how sexist this bullshit is, a girl has to put out if you cook her a nice dinner? Please.

yeah the BJ part is due to me being pretty pissed and disoriented at 6am french time, what I meant by BJ, is being nice and rewarding

And no I am not assuming the quality of the steak is the only factor in the love equation

I didn't see any comment on Azubu Frost from Riot... the pic, the vid and everything is so obvious I don't see how they can't respond to that aside from blaming themselves or just blaming Azubu's sportmanship.

i dont know why they set it up this way, the first thing i would look out for when placing a big screen is if the players can see it.
But crusading against single teams is not useful, im pretty sure the asians are not the only ones who looked at that screen.

Im offended by riottiza thinking we are dumb. First he says they made all the players look forward into their display else they would cheat, then he says the players looked at least 90° to the sides and spoke with each other.
Also, i dont know anyone who would play a competetive game for a million dollars and would make eyecontact to his teammate instead of keeping the eyes on the game, but thats just me.

Who fucking cares about Azubu ? The games weren't close at all, only TSM is raging.

Although I must admit it's kinda cheating, imo it's extremely hard to noy look at it. I mean, the game is paused for and extended amount of time, you are not gonna stare your screen forever, look around, at the audience, at your partners, and maybe the main screen. I would very probably a few miliseconds then look away because I knew it was unauthorised, but it can be enough to have intel about the game.

There's a detail also that makes this a bit complicated. Azubu was on the right row right ? With the wall behind them, I do think they probably couldn't see the bottom of the main screen, thus not the minimap. But this has to be confirmed.

Frost outplayed TSM, hard. But seeing rjsdnd looking at the fucking screen when he's on stage is just absurd. I know Tiza is just trying to calm people down but seriously, this is not good for the professionalism of LoL.

Booths. Do it.

If you watch the edited Reginald interview where he talk about that, they said that they watched Azubu Frost's game and found a flaws at the beginning : the support always ward the top bush.
So they decided to just kill the support and get easy first blood. It's quite a good part of their strategy, I don't think it's something that cost them the game but still.

You don't even need booths to prevent this, just a stage setup where the screen is in front or right over the players,or have something like a tent over the players lol.
afaik there was a sc2 event that didn't have booths but they had something like a black sheet over the space where the players were playing so they couldn't look up to the big screen.

I am just too angry and disappointed with Riot.
S1 was a fiasco. TI2 was amazing. S2 a fiasco. OGN tournaments were amazing. And still more cheating speculations that seem completely valid.

And the beating around the bush instead of coming out and saying they fucked up. They chose a venue that proved to be unreliable. They chose an OUTDOOR venue so the sun rapes them too.

Riot wants LoL to not be a fucking joke. Doesn't look like it to me.

Whatever. Just really disappointed.
