Now, not all of that is WoW, but i think it'd be safe to assume that WoW makes at minimum 1 billion in Operating Profit each year, as Activision doesn't have that many subscriptions(only thing I can think of is Call of Duty Elite, which only started in November of last year), and I highly doubt development costs for WoW would be anywhere near 100 million.

Could we stop bashing Riot for a second, they are providing a free game, with a free stream, quality of the event is what it is, you think it's stupid: don't watch it.
Let's say you're a girl (viewer) and I (Riot) invited you for dinner at my place.
The dinner is a not as good as you expected, the steak is too cooked and I took ages in the kitchen,
At the end of the meal, you might :
- decide that I am still a cute guy that tried hard and that I deserve a KISS after-all and stay
- decide that I am a total failure for missing the cooking of a gorgeous steak and decide to leave fast with a friendly advice on how I should use my oven next time.
