Keep the rage to a minimum. This includes wait times between games, music, and balance.
Fair warning to all. |

@Slasher When MLG Dallas had issues, Sundance came out and made the announcement bimself. Where is the same from Riot? Wheat should not be doing it.
I don't mind Wheat doing it.
Sundance is the face of MLG. I have no idea who is the face of Riot eSports.

the good will they gain by compensation will prevent them from losing customers over this(they might anyways the whole event being delayed really is a big deal, if they have problems with the next venue then expect some major rage)
You really don't need to be dumb to realize this situation will cost them money, the stream being down, the dissatisfaction with the tournament as a whole, the pebbles/crumbs of riot points they hand out to the in person crowd is just crumbs and it's not a big deal at all, mostly insignificant.

Why is who made the announcement even an issue? Does anyone really care who delivered the news?

Most people don't, but the delivery of the message DOES matter. A high level executive doing it shows sincerity in the message and apology. Getting someone else to do it doesn't.

Wonder when they will be doing the rest of the games, doesn't leave much prep time for the final games if they do it too close to the 13th.

It actually doesn't work like this.
Players have a budget they are willing to spend and they will spend it regardless. If they were willing to spend $20, they will spend those $20. If they got 2000 RP compensation, they will not spend less, they will just say "oh, i can get those 2 skins that i didn't plan on buying". Now you will say "but it's different, i don't....", and yes, for some it's different but for about 95% of the players, it's exactly that. They spend what they can afford and if they get something extra, they will just spend it on something they wouldn't have bought otherwise.

No it's just crumbs compared to their potential losses overall, it's really not a big deal for a company of this size to give the crowd(which is relatively small, look at the stream numbers then look at the crowd size, the crowd is not really that large) free stuff. I don't actually know how the crowd feels, but in relevance to it being a "huge hit to riots bank accounts for giving free rp" I really don't think thats a big deal at all it's basically bread crumbs for Riot, and that's what I was addressing with my post.
If they give 1000000 free RP to every current and future League of Legends subscriber, then i would agree that this is a huge hit to riots bank accounts.
