[IEM] Kiev Discussion - Page 38

At any point of IEM Kiev, if you think of an interesting byline, please drop a sentence in the Pro Scene thread. (e.g. "Day 2: M5 hype was everything people expected")

At the end of the month, I'll catalogue the results of Kiev but also any interesting facts or events that happen over the course of the tournament.

Thanks.

What are you talking about? SC2 patches come once every couple of months.
Last LoL Patch came out yesterday? You think it'd be fair to have Kiev on a patch released 24 hours ago?

Also the patches arent released at the same time in all the regions. So it would be even more unfair to always play on the newest patch.

Really? Wow interesting dynamic there.

NA patches a day early. Party because of time difference, partly because more resources in NA in-case there's a critical error in the patch so it gets fixed before it deploys on EU.

Well i dont know if they improved upon that, but the Asia server was behind like 1 or 2 patches. Not important for this tournament, but otherwise a good reason not to take the newest patch :-p

Are all SC2 patches actually released on the same day? The league patches are all released on the same week (just different days). It isn't like Europe servers get the patches weeks afterwards.

The SEA server is run by a different company for league so they do as they please ^_^

Yeah I haven't been a fan of SK's picks -- they seem to just be "what's OP" rather than what works well as a team.

SK has a good tank/distraction line in the form of Kassadin, Riven and Rammus, which should help Vayne gets her deeps on. And with Soraka backing them up, it feels good. But will have to see. Curse just has so much CC. If Galio gets a good ult off, they should win.

I think SEA tends to get patches a bit ahead of the NA/EU servers. Maybe around the same time gap or a bit shorter than LoL.

I suppose Rammus and Kassadin ganks mean that Graves/Sona can't really push Vayne/Soraka too hard. Should be good for Vayne, but I'm a big Graves fan. That guy is still stupidly OP.

Hmm, can't help but think Janna would've been a better choice for SK, over soraka.

Well sc2 patches release worldwide within a 24 hour period and tourneys are always played on the newest patch, no way not to after all. The fact they keep it on the old patch is interesting to me.

NA patches on Tuesday, EU patches on Wednesday. So it's not out of line with SC2. The only difference would probably be with the SEA server, but that's not run by Riot as it's licensed out to Garena instead.

Tournament Realm is one patch back to ensure the meta isn't suddenly thrown out of balance and to give players time to adapt.

Aren't TSM a lock regardless of their result against White Lotus? They already have 2 wins and only one of Curse/SK will get to 2 wins.
Zero fighting.
