When I use W, is there a haxx to get the gold card immediately? And where exactly do you click when you use the ultimate? Center screen on area where you wanna gank. Press W R, space bar to go back to champ and select gold card, then back to area where you wanna gank, r+leftclick to teleport, then rightclick on target + move/Q? Thanks. I know, basic stuff. I tried to find something on youtube, without success
There is a way to get an "instant" gold card. The cards keep cycling when you're not using the skill so you can technically keep in your head which card is currently hidden. Even though it's a cute trick it has very little value other than being very spontaneous with a gold -> flash vs an opponent who is watching you (usually in lane vs dumb opponents who underrate your stacked gold + q + ignite burst and stay in lane).
The order of the cards is gold->blue->red->gold by the way.
As for where to use your ultimate, it takes practice. My first ultimates with tf were horrible, never cutting off an important escape route or teleporting to suicide and so on. However some tips are:
1) Hover your mouse over your ult icon to check the range of the spell, the best time to teleport is right after you press R for the first time, so unless you don't have vision of the guy you're aiming for, you want to know where you are going to gate before you activate it the first time and for that you want to make sure you're in range. 2) While ranging your ult you might lose track of yourself. Make sure to check your pathing. You don't want to bump into an enemy and preferably not walk through a ward either. This takes practice as you have to switch screens quickly. 3) Locking a yellow card before you activate your ult is easier and much safer than locking it while you're gating although you have enough time to do so, but sometimes it's better to gate asap even when your pick a card is on cd (for example when you're chasing an enemy from a previous fight). Just make sure you don't lock too early; it's embarrassing to gate then hit your enemy with a simple auto. 4) Stacked deck does a nice amount of damage but usually setting it up before a gank just wastes time and/or cs and usually you'll get enough autos on the enemy to get 1 or 2 procs anyway. 5) Judge the situation quickly before you gate. You get vision of every enemy, sometimes you spot the enemy jungler coming from the enemy lane and it's usually a really bad idea to gate between him and your targets. If you're ganking bottom, the support is usually an easier kill than the ad if the ad has cleanse. Cut off escape routes but don't place yourself in harms way. If you gate too soon too far from your team your target might just turn around and kill you or cc you then escape. If your target has flash and/or too many escape routes its often wise to teleport right on top of him or the closest wall he might flash onto. 6) Final tip. If the enemy has stealth champions or banshees, ult during teamfights.
Regarding your basic mechanic questions and just tf in general it all comes with practice. After a couple dozen games with the champion you'll start to get the hang of it as well as the champions limits and abilities.

Been playing TF a lot in normals recently and with some good success in ranked, was wondering do people think twin shadows is good on him and in what situations? I've been rushing lich unless it is someone who can 100-0 me in lane in which case I'll go 2xdorans.

If both top and bottom lane have little to no follow up CC but bring a significant amount of damage it's alright to get twin shadows (zed, nidalee, teemo in top lane for example, vayne/sivir/MF bottom lane)
Essentially, Twin Shadows lets you get two guaranteed gold cards off in a gank in addition to the ghost slow. It's much less damaging than either DFG or lichbane though which is why you see it less since you're much less useful in a teamfight.

Despite the TF nerfs being kind of annoying, I think the only thing that's changed is that my build path is now Sheen/sorcs -> DFG -> Lich Bane, instead of Cap being the first major item after the sorcs/sheen core, and I buy a couple more blue pots. I also end up farming wraiths a couple of times when I previously would have ganked. DFG/blue/blue pot is still enough CDR with masteries.Your ganks are actually a little stronger in circumstances where you can afford to stand and auto, because the steroid on E is noticeable. E should still be maxed 2nd, mostly for mana reasons.

If anything the changes to E make it less desirable to max second and the traditional reason to max W second is to increase the stun duration of the gold card. It also improves the mana recovery of a blue card and the slow on red cards.

Yeah, W should always have been maxed second. It costs more mana up front, but it's really hard to pass up the 2 second stun and the mana from blue card scales so it's about the same either way.

Totally forgot that TF was changed and I played him for a bit last week and here are my thoughts.
The blue card mana return nerf isn't too much of a change to his overall gameplay. I think to counteract this new constraint TF should play more aggressively using the new stacked deck 10% AS bonus (and maybe playing with AD reds or even 30-0-0 masteries if things align for you nicely).
STACKED DECK IS USEFUL SON:
1. They assist in last hitting harder stuff under tower. More attack speed = less issues trying to struggle last hitting two low HP creeps (definitely helped me get some of that shit 3z y0r0) + more procs possible DUH 2. Rank 1 base damage difference between wild cards and stacked deck proc is only 5 (60 vs 55). It's actually a great boost to just keep auto attacking the wave if the enemy plans to push you in and plan one hit away from gold card --> stacked deck proc on second hit or just a well timed blue card harass (even without stacked deck is fine, but it's nice to have that lined up too). This of course boosts compatibility with defensive runes (I used to dislike defensive runes on TF, but now it's actually very nice). 3. Helps your mana pool~~!!!~~ ><; 4. Riot forced TF to stay in lane longer so that's another reason to favor defensive stats (more vulnerable than before) 5. Item changes aren't necessary unless blue card gets pooped on some more (Athene's MAYBE)
So now I suggest W E Q Q Q R>Q>W>E just a little wrinkle with the stacked deck time (10% AS is retarded).
Oh, and a NEW SHINY TF build that is legit as shit adding soon~ lelelelel
PS: 10% AS is retarded.

Couple of days ago I watched some fairly old (but not that old) videos of Xpeke playing him and decided that I would try to learn him, however I noticed that his W and R felt different from what was in the video, checked his patch history and saw that Riot butchered him pretty remorseless :-) Ulti CD so long, and picking a card and more noticeable holding the card time so short, I started to wonder is he still viable ? I mean as a prime pick? What do u guys think?

He used to be a safe first pick in soloQ and comp but the nerfs simply mean that you have to be careful what team comp/champs you pick him in to. TF is still a very strong champ.
|
I still think the "nerfs" are not so hard. He is now higher skillcap with his W, but with that "nerf" he also got a buff for himself.
|
Anyway to play TF in this meta? I'm trying to find away, but too many assassins mid its hard. I saw some high elo player go 21 utility with exp quints for fast 6 maybe a possibility.
|
Not when they can pick Fizz and just destroy you without even trying.
|
underworld twisted fate available this year holy shit time to use that free amex rp swag
|
Once Fizz Ahri Kass Zed get hit by the nerf hammer (which should be soon) he should be a good pick again.

TF mains will rise again in Season 4!
Misaya on S4 changes: "I think a TF with Lich Bane and Deathcap can take down an inhibitor turret in 2 blue cards?"
Yes!

Yes!
In context: he means that this is now possible with TF with the new baron buff (which boosts damage to towers instead of giving regen/ad/ap).

lol maybe support TF will actually be viable now?
|
Ahh, my favorite champion, but he requires a good team and no assassin mid to be effective. Do not build him AD at this point; honestly that part of this guide should be deleted.
