On the one hand it would hurt his relationship with Monte if he went without Monte, but on the other DoA is probably a lot more levelheaded and can see the writing on the wall re: Monte's future with Riot. Not worth following Monte to Overwatch when he's well-liked by both Riot and League fans. I don't think Monte is dumb enough to hold it against him if he had

DoA was a caster before Monte and will be most likely casting at OGN as long as both parties want it. The man is building a life there after all. I just hope both Monte and Riot start growing up a bit. It's fine to have conflict but the way both parties have gone about it is really sad.

Really, Monte talks the talk about hating Riot, but at the end of the day that's just his brand. He's chosen to define himself as, and/or markets himself as, the anti-authoritarian "fuck riot" guy. That gets him the attention - there's a reason why people talk about him much more than DoA. (It also doesn't carry over to Overwatch, because why would an Overwatch player care about you if all you are is the "fuck Riot" guy?) So that kind of branding really falls apart if his cause celebre, "Casters are being underpaid", is directly undercut by both Papasmithy and DoA happily accepting that same pay, particularly since I think he and DoA are pretty close personally, much more so than Monte and PapaSmithy. I mean, Monte is a pretty short-sighted temperamental dude. Like, in the whole REN-TDK thing, a normal person would have just picked Riot over Chris freakin' Badawi, but Monte felt the need to be loyal to Badawi, maybe? And fell on his sword to protect that guy for some reason? So I would think that if DoA had accepted Riot's offer Monte would at the very least be annoyed, if not personally hurt. Of course this is all just speculation since DoA is getting married and the issue is moot.

There's plenty of people throughout history that haven't just bent under corporate bullying(Not that this was or wasn't). He didn't fall on any sword to protect Badawi, he tried to save himself and landed up getting shot down as well. The way Riot was going about it meant that Monte was always going to sink with Badawi unless he could manage to keep them afloat long enough to remove Badawi from the equation. Feel you're twisting the situation a bit here. It may be short-sighted or it may be the right move. Only history will know unfortunately. Riot is the big dog today, will they last? Will Monte's career survive? Will history look at Riot as an egotistical tyrant or a visionary?

Badawi seems like a smooth conman as well. It's hard to blame the victims even if from the outside it seems obvious. Monte says he wasn't invited prior to the latest Riot shitstorm so sounds like all bridges were burnt at the REN situation. Almost everyone from REN side seemed fine with Badawi as well as his business partner.

Thankfully I was never a big fan of Monte so I can do just fine without his casting.

There's absolutely no need to hang onto a sociopathic liar as a business partner - just find someone else. But he didn't, and then the second REN-TDK controversy ended up dragging Monte into a huge fight with Riot, during which apparently all of the bridges were burned. Monte wouldn't have had to go through all of that if he just dumped Badawi in the first place like a rational businessman would have done. Pretty sure bridges were burning before that and Riot were just looking for the final straw/excuse to get rid of him. If riot didn't have such garbage rules regarding player transfer things would be a lot cleaner and simpler as well. Also Badawi was made an example of however you look at it. Tons of people have poached before and none of them got permd. Not really a fan of monte's casting so don't really care too much but being replaced by fucking LS is quite funny. I can't wait to hear a 5 minute explanation using words nobody does just to say "he is warding the top side because the jungler started blue".

On one hand, I don't feel any sympathy for Monte at all because I believe the drama and the following consequences are completely self-induced by him. On the other hand, it does bring in an interesting question of how professional LoL casters - especially colour casters which require a great deal of specific game knowledge - can develop and transition their career once a game fades.
