Not sure about other heavy sustainers like Swain and Vlad, but keeping GW on a Mundo throughout his ult denies slighty more healing than Giant Slayer would add if the AD were to 100-0 Mundo with physical damage. Granted, ideally there's an ignite or GW is applied through Morello's, but ignite has a super long cooldown and FQC crowds out Morellos on people that just blindly follow the "this is good" builds and these people span every elo. It feels bad because people want that fat damage metric to feel better after a game an "healing denied" isn't a tracked stat.

I'd still rather my adc have Dominiks unless we were against multiple big sustain champs, and (for FinestHour's benefit) GW doesnt work on allied heal anymore which makes it so much more niche unfortunately, only nerfs self heals.

NA is a weird place, where people are more worried about their teammates being toxic, than winning a game sometimes. I dont get why toxicity is such an important issue for riot. like really, do people get THAT offended over people calling them names in a game that they completely quit playing? Yes. They really do quit playing games when people call them names. Most people don't like being called names and when they have a choice between entertainment option A where they get called names, and entertainment option B where they don't get called names, they pick option B, as it turns out. I realize that most of the people on this forum and most of our gamer friends don't see it that way, but we must remember that just by posting here we are not representative of "most people". Most people do not feel like being called names is an acceptable downside to playing a game they want to play. If that were true LOL, COD, Halo, etc would never have gotten popular. There is really no evidence of this outside from a tiny population of agitators, who are basically the college students doing a sit-in over the lack of vegan options. That LOL is a clownfiesta that lets you blame teammates for losses is probably a huge reason why it became "the game" instead of StarCraft or the myriad of other games. Now, some people don't like being blamed, but they also like blaming, and knowing Riot, if this had significantly improved player retention they would be having a parade about it.
When you're talking about things that the average person does for entertainment and comparing things like COD and LOL and Halo to things like "watching tv" or "going out to eat" etc, none of those games are popular.
And when you're talking about most people and what the mainstream of people enjoy and want out of their life experiences, you're not comparing league to COD, you're comparing it to watching TV.
Your TV doesnt call you names.
Think of it this way.
Would your mother play league? Or would she stop playing when people call her names.
Riot wants your mother to play league.

There would be no one complaining about the system if it only targeted people who call someone a mean name or harass them. but the end result is the crap we have now, where its either, someone flaming like mad, or someone bitching about another player offering advice and threatening to report them for being toxic, or complete silence. People rightly choosing to NOT talk rather than risk someone thinking they are toxic and AFKing in response then reporting them.

Yeah, that's kind of the point to the last half of my post. It isn't ideal, but there are situations where it's good. It just happen to be very narrow ones.

cthulu lady is pretty good, played only two games with her and stomped pretty hard both times.

She gets a lot less good once people get smart enough to just harass and straight gtfo when you ult, then wait the 8s out. It still doesn't happen too much in my normal games. And she's cool regardless of whether she's good or not.

Your TV doesnt call you names. Think of it this way. Would your mother play league? Or would she stop playing when people call her names. Riot wants your mother to play league. Then they have to figure out a way to make it fun for someone who is half asleep the second they get back from work. First of all, video games only somewhat compete with TV, TV is not a competitive environment, they compete with other video games and sports, and the demographics bear that out. My mom doesn't play league, or any video games because she doesn't crave competition, even in horseback riding, which she loves, she almost never shows (probably only once a year) because she doesn't care about her standing relative to other horseback riders. My dad, on the other hand, will play racquetball at the gym, and he doesn't really like video games, but that is because he sucks at them, while in racquetball he gets to see hes the 2nd best over 55 guy at the gym.
So, if you are comparing it to TV, you are being a fool, and if Riot thinks they are going to get that kind of demo, they are even bigger fools. Even the esports division should be focused on promoting viewer appreciation of the rivalries and competition between teams, just like NBA, NFL, etc coverage, and yes its about good production but competition is the heart and soul of all multiplayer games.
Now, other games do have strong female cohorts, like the SIMS and WOW. And that is because those games are more about the world and character development (thus being more of a TV replacement) and they contain experiences that only require passive engagement comparatively.
So your premise is just totally off, she wouldn't play LOL because she doesn't care for the elements of LOL, so its a non-sequitur. Who they need to get is my cousins, who suck at sports and need an outlet where they can actually be good at something competitive. And they, being 10-15, are the ones most likely to call someone on their team a "fag" because they are feeding.

Riot has always acted as if they knew where they were going with their war on toxicity, and why they were at war against toxicity in the first place, but the reality is that they don't know why they are at war themselves. Which is why it's hard to judge if fighting against toxicity is "productive" or "useless", "good" or "bad", because there is no expected result for us to judge if it is actually obtained or not.
Riot doesn't fight against toxicity to "appeal to a larger audience", to "prevent people from quitting", to "prevent suicides" (this one has been cited to as a motivation for war on toxicity), to "create a friendly environment", etc. They are fighting against toxicity and it doesn't go beyond that. Fighting is the goal.
From that point of view they are actually doing quite good. On EUW the toxicity has definitely decreased, especially since the declaration of full scale war against toxicity, including "gg easy" etc. I've tried typing "gg easy" two or three times after losing myself and every time I got a warning message immediately after lmao.

I think the magical happy place fairy land is all bullshit. Why should people care about random words a random person says to them? Chances of playing together (except when your highly ranked) is very slim anyway. I only become "toxic" when people start frustrating me to no end. This is achieved by being someone with no perspective and rambling stupid shit, making the same mistakes over and over without learning from them. This tells me you don't give a single fuck about the team aspect of the game and don't care if you win or lose in this competitive environment. And because I'm pretty competitive myself, this gets to me and temperatures start rising untill a boiling point is reached. I don't care about AFKers, I don't care about lag, or even feeding (to a certain extent), I just want good teamplay with good communication. This can be done in a toxic or non-toxic way, albeit the toxic route is alot harder to pull off.

Because: 1) the veil of anonimity and no face to face interaction and 2) I don't think you know howmuch backhanded, vile shit gets thrown around in sports etc.. people pushing, shoving, calling eachother names, getting under eachother's skin, simply to get your opponent down (so unfair play basically). So in real life you have a (not always) bad interaction between 2 individuals or teams and in LoL (or other games) you have one in the team. But I also think that things can become very ugly in a teamgame/sport or in a teamoriented setting at work when the team is simply underperforming, or when a few individuals have bad attitudes. Most people in these settings also spend more time together than just the one game so I guess that also changes things.

No it's because in real sports your high stress levels are balanced out by physical exertion. Its why you are supposed to work out if you get stressed. And also, in real sports you just freeze out and bench crap players. League is a game where you have to keep passing to the kid who turns the ball over every possession and thinks he's Steph Curry even though he is 1/20 from the floor.

It's not about celebrating bad behaviour, it's about different people have different approaches to life. Not everyone is toxic, not everyone is a fun, happy, positive person either. If you need to have a certain personality in order to not be scrutinzed than that's just bullshit in my opinion. Some are more vocal, others are less so, etc etc. People are different. Just play the game and learn to shrug off all the shit that's flung at you, because the internet, just like life, is harsh. Also, if people can't handle insults, why can't they learn to mute the people spouting the insults? People devolving into complete degenerates who start "trolling" and feed kills on purpose is a whole different problem though.
PS With keyboard warrior you do actually mean people who start ranting and flaming right?

How would you guys define the role of a top laner in the current meta (srs)?
I've been struggling at top as I feel it's a lot more passive now than I'm used to (havent seriously played for a couple of seasons), and I've been finding more success at support/jungle. Trying to find my place there again, and other than a Riven/Poppy snowball it hasn't been easy
