And Taric + Kallista is just pure terror because aoe armor shred synergises so perfectly with hurricane + rend.

The fact that Taric's stun has travel time makes it far easier to escape.

I'm not convinced either, but Taric still has high cooldowns and mana costs (his passive doesn't do much for his cooldowns because if you try to cast-auto-cast-auto etc. you can't combo people, his cc doesn't last enough).

Doesn't Taric E have shorter CD than Morg E as well?

My sample size is still pretty small and I'm still ranked rather low (D4), but at least I had a pretty good streak with Taric. http://www.lolking.net/summoner/euw/29864478#matches We'll see how the winrate develops in future, and (I hope) higher ranked games. I'm also still unsure about builds/runes/masteries, but what I currently run seems okay.

Somehow despite the fact that I don't buy wards, I'm still a "mediocre" warder apparently

Unless they changed it to use Riot's API and track stats from the whole "public" match history (eg. ranked games) it only takes ranked games that are currently in your history for its stats. Drawing data from a bunch of people would take awfully long, while as is they build up their data as people check their score. However it gets much less data than before the match history changes.
