I stopped using the in game chat about 2 years ago and even tried using curse voice but almost nobody uses it. This game could really use voice chat. Riot spun some tale about how they did studies that said people were harassed more in voice chat because of their voice, exposing their gender, etc.
How does that even make sense? It's optional. The game would be so much better with voice chat.

Yeah, but if there was a built in voice chat there would be pressure to unless you want to get reported with refusing to communicate or something.

Especially since league is one of the few games that more females play.
Also tone of voice is pretty huge, can transfer a lot of information through that even if your words don't, which is what happens when you rage.

voice chat is a terrible idea wtf only positive is its easier to call misses pretty much all the rest is having people rage in your ears where you cant ignore it unless you mute them
|
I think a lot of the rage comes from being unable to communicate what you want to do through chat effectively enough. Having voice chat means you can coordinate more which means less rage.
|
wtf no its not communication wtf its peoeple being mad because other people arent doing everything the way they expect
people are like pinging to push and the other guy is like fuck it i wanna farm 2 more waves then everyone gets caught mid
its not bad to push mid and its not bad to farm 2 more waves but people willfully ignore calls they dont agree with and its nothing to do with communication but unwillingless to compromise

Maybe you might have less rage. But whatever comes out of that rage could be many, many times worse with voice chat.

I don't really think that is any different then the past 10+ years with voice comms. Is the League community really that special that voice comms won't work? We have had it for years at this point and I have never really seen it be a problem.
You have it default off and push to talk default so people have to dig around to find it and it isn't super obnoxious background noise. I feel that people that want to use it will do it without any real problems and people who don't want to use it don't have to change anything. At worse, a player can always mute which isn't really worse then what it is now.
It just feels a little silly to me to be gated on communication in a game entirely based around working with other people to achieve a goal.
Yeah, but if there was a built in voice chat there would be pressure to unless you want to get reported with refusing to communicate or something. I just don't buy this at all. Even in in houses and stuff I mostly want to be able to communicate to people, getting feedback is a bonus. Regardless, it is a feature, and should be advertise as such, and I can't remember a game where having comms felt mandatory.
EDIT: To be clear, honestly don't expect ever getting voice comms unless Riot undergoes a serious shift in attitude but I feel the community should be in favor of it as whole.

Voice comms is a waste of time. It will not have enough of an impact on the game to warrant putting any resources towards it. It's a bit incredible that people think having the ability to talk to randoms in pubs or ranked will have any improvement to their game. Voice comms are only relevant when you have some sort of team dynamic which is impossible in solo queue.(yes I am generalizing, and there are exceptions)

Voice chat is literally last thing, this game needs right now. Only in FPS games voice chat is okay thing to have honestly, just because everything is on the fly, in MOBAs it's extremely unneccessary.

ive never heard anyone rage on voice comm before, I would be embarassed as fuck to start raging irl that is so hilarious to even think about. On the other hand I have no problem typing obscenities into regular chat and giving the impression that I'm "mad"
|
Riot would be better off adding alt-click pings a la DotA 2 ("Zhonya's Ready" "Ult ready in 10s" "Flash ready in 10s") and a more extensive chat wheel than they would adding voice chat, especially given how lackluster the UI is for checking these things on your allies. While built-in voice chat can allow better team coordination in ideal circumstances, it just disrupts it a lot of the time. It also exposes lack of language matchmaking fidelity.
And it makes it so you can't listen to music without feeling bad in some games but that's whatever.

The best soloQ games I've had were when someone randomly decided to get everyone on teamspeak and do some advanced strats

Maokai is bugged as shit. Autoing doesn't always trigger his passive. Autoing sometimes consumes the buff without healing him.
Urgh. Watching myself auto someone 4 times and still not triggered.
