This is the first champ release that I'm genuinely looking at and not being able to see how it isn't broken. I mean, sure there isn't any one thing that he does well, but the possibilities with his kit seem ridiculous. Turret dives, neutral objective control, hard engage and free zhonyas on ulti so long as it's positioned well.
Moving through walls of any length will create some ridiculous flanking maneuvers that can't have the downside of being 2 ways taken advantage of. Imagine a team moving to contest blue buff, Bard goes around to the long (relatively straight) wall alongside blue buff that goes all the way from river to the other side of wolves. That's a free flank that cannot be taken advantage of by the opposing team.
I really hope that there is some major trade offs to the potential I see here...

he seems super weak, like I really dig that none of his spells do damage as a change of pace but I'm not sure how a support could get away with that, he seems super good as an ally if you can somehow not get dumpstered early while he's useless
Warwick comes to mind.
I wonder what you get for maxing tunnel?

Exciting! Can't wait to give him ago, another support to play in Ranked hopefully (didn't really like Braum personally). As per normal most some TL posters completly writing the champ off before hes even been seen. HUE.

It would be kind of odd to have people die or be CCed in the middle of a big wall. However, if they do have immunity that's pretty exploitable.
I'm guessing it's some kind of "travel sickness" so you can't just chain together tunnel jumps.

This is pretty cool in a vacuum, but doesn't make any sense in the context of anything else. Not to mention that literally the only the passive has any useful interaction with being a full-time roaming support. Lack of strong rank 1 nukes and reliable disables pre-6 hurt the idea of being a roamer more than the passive could realistically help, unless the XP gain is so overtuned that you can hit 2 off of running around the map doing nothing in reasonable time.
Lets not over-exaggerate Yango. The health pack is perfectly fitting in a roaming kit.
The passive should be quite strong to incentivize the roam, as it cannot be exploited in combination with laning. You either lane and get normal EXP, or go collect chimes, you can't ever really stack them unless one happens to spawn right next to a huge wave. Therefore the chimes can provide almost as much experience as creeps. No monay though.
The Q looks like I could be decently reliable, the slow is very strong (its literally 3 seconds long and looks like around 60-80%) from the video, and it procs stun on creeps or walls. His roaming power will come down to the power level of his passive damage and packs. He could be a successful roamer just based on healthpacks if they were overtuned enough (I don't think they are but they could be).

On a side note, that Ult is going to be super troll for securing objectives it looks like. Run up to Baron, Ult the enemy team, then trololol away with Baron for free. Except that it looks like the ult will make the Baron invulnerable, too.

I'm surprised Soniv isn't here yet to mention that his passive is literally Olimar and Pikmin Friends.
Run around collecting your Pikmin and then chuck them at people.

According to the videos and the descriptions they give, his passive becomes AoE and slows if you have enough Meeps.
He looks like stronger at punishing objectives while he's nearby than roaming, though. dropping health packs to trace a retreat path (they give a MS buff too), zoning people with the threat of E, and if they ever commit to a zone/objective his ability to contest between portals and the stasis are huge deterrents.
|
It is kind of strange to me how Riot has been so scared of abilities that can be used to troll allies, when any character in the game already has the potential to just run at the enemy and feed, which is far far worse than pretty much anything they could ever do with a skill. Trolls gon troll, giving us interesting spells won't impact that too much I'd guess.

Now that you mention the CC potential, I wonder if he could become a jungler? lvl 1 start w heal and throw a bunch of them down along your first clear (depending on how long they last), since your damage seems to come from passive pikmin clearing gromp/krugs to get the extra clearing power could supplement the damage definitely still slow though, and then his ganks would be insane (especially with a chime buff).

No way, His passive is only intermittent damage (a la thresh chargup, good in lane terrible in jungle), his Q is 2 target. Just not enough damage to clear. His clearing looks much slower than even like leona, and she isn't viable even with her pure terror ganks.

Bard Morg seems cool
Morg flash ults, Bard immediately freezes everyone after first tic, wears off just as second tic. Full team stun and 600+1.4AP.

We don't know how much damage Q or passive will do yet, and passive is AoE if there are enough pikmin, and I'm not certain that it's such a problem to be only able to damage 2. If it proves to be loaded to make up for the rest of his kit being damage free then lvl krug/gromp to get the additional damage and clear with Q passive. That said I'm not hopeful for the base stats to do it, just saying that it has potential to maybe happen.

We kinda do know how much damage he will do, because if he does enough with passive and Q to be an adequate jungler we have a broken as fuck laner on our hands and he won't be seen in the jungle anyway.

seems like a really cool champ although yeah bizarre to see a roamer lol
the potential for griefing is definitely there but I'd be surprised if this is a huge issue past the first week or so. It's interesting to me that Riot has apparently changed their stance on this though.
Everything but the heal and passive seem like really fun and pretty unique skills. The portal especially should be fun to play with ^^
edit: and I'd be shocked if Bard is a viable jungler that just seems like it would have to be broken on a bunch of levels o.o

Probably true, I was just throwing it out there having just seen the abilities. Hell, wouldn't be the first time a champion was released with a stacked enough kit to move into stupid roles.

A strong heal doesn't make a strong roamer. More than anything, it makes a strong laner.
A roamer has to be doing enough to justify the fact that the lane he's not in is a 2v1. Generally, this has to involve offensive potential in the other lanes. An efficient heal is simply not compelling enough to make roaming potential. Even when champions like Soraka and Sona had totally bullshit healing ability, you didn't see them running around the map healing people in other lanes--because when you have a monstrously powerful heal, it's WAY more bullshit to abuse in a lane. Sustain has value in extended laning, but if you're going to run around NOT being in lanes and not jungling, you need the ability to kill things.
Pretty much all the successful roaming champions when it was a thing all had 2 nukes the moment they hit level 2 with high base damage.

Sure, but his heal is specifically tuned to not be like Soraka or Sona's heal. He drops it and it has to power up, and he doesn't need to be there for that.
I'm not seeing him as "a roaming support", its more like a support who should roam a bit, and won't get disadvantaged by doing that as much as a traditional support does.
