I dunno, I think Chilling Smite is pretty amazingly strong, personally.

I can get the logic here, although I think it's a little funny that they're calling out those super scary early Amumu ganks.

It's still strong, but they've nerfed literally every smite outside of Poachers when it was strong instead of trying to create parity. The logic of nerfing the only strong thing that is left in does nothing but take the whole jungle position and moving it down big time.

If Chilling smite is too strong, remove the steal and just make it a 20% slow. It's bad enough that I have to spend 700g to not die without enemy interruption and have a summoner spell that isn't useless for 5 to 6 minutes at a time.

Further, it is a nerf to Chilling Smite relative to the other Smites because:
Trailblazer Smite can't be used on champions.
Poachers Smite can't be used on champions.
Skirmisher Smite only really does stuff if you're in autoattack range anyway.

Wrong. When they nerfed the damage to a dot, the main reason you get Sabre is to take 20% reduced damage from the smited target.

holy shit we bitched about reworks today and I totally forgot Sona, especially now that DJ sona is revealed I have convinced myself the rework was entirely to gussy up that skin, I mean it would have been in development at the time, and the aura circle thingy is a big part of the new spell effects.

Reworked to justify ultimate skin pricing you heard it here first.

Looking at PBE, sona still kill stealing machine, but crescendo isn't quite as strong as s2

If anyone ever believed the rework was for the health of the meta rather than the $$ they're crazy

If he's getting put with bronze level people, they probably don't have the mechanics to play him anyway.

Chilling Smite completely changes how I have to think about playing mid. I have always loved getting ganked mid because:

1. I usually expected it
2. I trust myself more than teammates to not die

but Chilling completely destroys all notions I've previously had

Azir has a 38% win rate after the patch. And in the hands of someone in bronze...

chilling smite makes heroes without dashes 10x times less viable, before they added it i felt super safe as vlad but now when i overextend im pretty much dead and pool isnt doing much for me, im happy they nerf it 700 range 2s point and click slow was silly on certain junglers who already had good gank pressure without it

Chilling smite also made some junglers much more viable, especially those with otherwise hard to land skillshot CC (Cho and Olaf, for example). If they keep doing these Smite nerfs I'll just go back to Sejuani and twiddle my thumbs until the lategame

After their first back, or for entire games? I could see using the extra mana from Ranger's to farm for a fast level 6, but I'm afraid I don't see the longterm value, after you've built a Righteous Glory for mana. Or perhaps I'm at a low enough level where people overextend and are vulnerable to a level 4 gank. Either way, I'll try it out and see how it goes, thanks for the tip.
Trust in Bayes.

I would argue that chilling smite hurts immobile laner viability much more than it helps immobile jungle viability.

A fat targeted slow is never going to not be great in a gank, its pretty much just as good for lee sin and jarvan as it is for olaf, so it doesn't really make olaf any better a pick over them in comparison. Plus they have crucial skilshots to assist with too. Its like Flash, I mean people take flash on Kassadin, you can never have too much mobility/CC.

On the other side of things it just straight up murders swain vlad viktor etc.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

Seems like it would be better to just standardize the items and balance each champion based on that. That would prevent people from hiding behind excuses like "Warwick would be great if only x jungle item was buffed" or warriors being the best enchant for some random champion like fiora causing her to be fotm in patch 5.67.
