Seems like a silly conversation in the first place. I agree

Was it even a rework, lol. Rework is drastic change and for MF's playstyle nothing changed at all.

Playing against Veigar is one of my favorite experiences because I have played so much Veigar that I can predict with really good accuracy when they're coming to stun and preempt it and kill them, whether by fading back or flashing the stun or whatever.

I can understand experience bringing alot more into that matchup, but from a perspective of someone who rarely sees a veigar at all, it's - well you know how I feel about it by now :p

Half of them is 2012 and earlier, gotta bring Heimerdinger with 4 turrets as well here. Old Karma was hilarious though but Twitch, TF, Nidalee and Sion are definitely successful reworks.
Rest in pepperonis, 16 gold parrley though. >:

I like playing against Veigar right now, because it's like this minigame of how much can I bully him in lane and make him Q me instead of minions.
Then later in the game it's like OH MY GOD IS THERE A DWARF IN THIS BUSH? AM I GONNA DIE?

You complain about wanting counterplay, but also say you don't want to be forced to buy Merc Treads against him. That is literally the simplest counterplay you could get, and it makes it such a non-issue, especially if you get it early enough before he has any real impact.

That's not counterplay, that's just buying an item lol. Either way, you're saying mercs cut the stun duration so hard veigar can no longer 100-0 me?

Yes it does, actually, because you're dodging Dark Matter. If Veigar so incredibly ahead he can one shot you with QR, he doesn't even need to stun you so the point is moot. And if someone is that ahead, then it really doesn't matter what champ he's playing lol.
W delay is 1.25s. At level 3 Event Horizon, Veigar stuns for 1.3s vs. a Merc Tread target. That is assuming he casts Dark Matter with less than .05s delay, aka instantly, if he wants to hit. Realistically, delay means you need level 4 Event Horizon for a guaranteed hit. If you have level 4 stun, it means you have 3 less levels in W, which is 250 damage less. Combined with the MR Mercs give you, it is extremely unlikely Veigar can one shot you unelss he's incredibly far ahead or until much much later into the game, when you can reasonably be expected to have other MR and HP items as well.

...yes, that is exactly what I'm saying
Tenacity gets you out of stun before W hits you, AND it gives you MR to combat, ya know, his damage.
And in what world is buying an item not counterplay? You made a decision and performed an action to combat an opponent's moves/abilities/decisions.

Before when dfg existed I can see the complaint about him being really annoying to play against but not anymore.

Yeah dodging dark matter is what I meant. In that case I guess the odds even out, but the rest of his kit is still just press the buttons and click the champs, what do you see in it anyway?

This veigar rework completely misses the fundamental flaws of veigar's kit.
His ability names and themes are super dumb. Passive, Q and R have names that make enough sense for what they do, so whatever. But then W/E/R also have a space/astronomy theme for some reason that has nothing to do with the character or the rest of his ability names (unless it's silly riot lore implying that equilibrium and being scary are universal concepts / important to the creation of runeterra / something equally dumb / it's not this).
Meteors have nothing to do with dark matter. They're both astronomy things, but why are these the same skill? You could make a meteor out of dark matter in theory I guess, but it wouldn't be this purple thing and there's no reason to think it'd do more than a space boulder.
Even horizon works backwards. An event horizon is part of the structure of a black hole, a point at which the force of gravity on the inside is so powerful that light cannot escape, but outside the event horizon it still can. It can be thought of as "the point of no return" to some extent, but it's significance comes more from that we can't directly observe black holes beyond the event horizon because of no light. If anything, it should either take the namesake and work like a two-way grave's smokescreen, or be more of a black hole and be a large CC circle with lots of concentric layers, where the middle stuns, the next layer like 99% slows, the next 75%, 50 / 25 / 10 kind of thing, so it slows more the closer you are to the centre. You're not safe on the inside and dead at the edge.
What happened to the little nerd who stole a yordle weather balloon or something dumb? Veigar could have the exact same kit using silly / evil / yordle kinds of spells instead of random space-named things that have no relation. I'm thinking like summoning a somewhat inconvenient to walk over circular fence. Or the opposite and keep the stupid little rat with huge powerful magic theme, and just call them as the powerful spells they are (ex// meteor (w) & you're fucking done mate (e)).
Needs a complete overhaul.

What you call it doesn't make you any less wrong for refusing to do it.

Please, get out.
