I put too much faith in salaried coaches upping the strategic level of NA. TSM does the TSM thing and wins with it, but look terrible when they don't and just fallback on their teamfighting to get back into the game. Post Gravity game edit: What's that? TSM lost a game in which their picks couldn't teamfight or 1v1 splitpush vs the enemy team?

TSM lost because they lost a fight with a full AD comp against a tanky comp that outscaled. My predictions for this split are still impressively accurate and yours are lacking.

Well, no, because I was explaining why people thought that way... EDIT: On March 24 2015 08:02 EsanLOL wrote: After reading both of your predictions, I wouldn't call your predictions anymore impressively accurate than his ![]() They were, mine were fairly wild and expecting sweeping changes to come along with the coaching position (unfortunately I didn't realise that there would be teams that didn't bother considering coaching a proper position). His are pretty accurate, only TL and T8 being 3 spots off their standings at the end. I just like rubbing it in TSM fans noses that TSM can only win if they teamfight off the back of Bjerg and sometimes WT, or if Bjerg can split push for the win.

A lot of teams are in a kind of flux, which of them emerge as legit is hard to tell. I would bet on Impulse being good though, and I think Dignitas may be truly horrendous, but time will tell. 1) C9 2) TL 3) TSM 4) TiP 5) WFX 6) CLG (Hoping I'm wrong and they do better) 7) GRV 8) DIG 9) CST 10) T8 Now that its in the books: I got the top 4, in the wrong order. TSM was the biggest underestimation, you bump them to the top and I had the rest of it. CLG 6th. Yup. I guess technically 5th/6th but wtv? Slight underestimation of Gravity and T8, overestimated Winterfox. Dig and CST, wtv.

TSM - extremely stacked roster in terms of individual talent, was the case last year as well but with the addition of Santorin who has proven to be a soloq god thus far, and reports of him being near Meteos level in scrims, I would be very surprised if TSM wasn't as strong as last year, when they were the best team in NA. 2. C9 - Solid roster, as always. Hai was their biggest liability in S4 Summer Split, perhaps if he is able to be more stable as a player they will be able to beat out TSM. 3. Team Liquid - Without LMQ here to take 3rd place, Curse (Now Team Liquid), automatically ranks up in my book. A few notes though, I think they have gotten a major downgrade in the mid lane, and I think Piglet is a bit overhyped. Biggest strengths have to be the stability of the rest of the roster. Xpecial is a great support capable of carry-level playmaking. Quas is in contention for best Top laner in the entire region, and rarely is seen exploited by other teams. 4. TiP - Hard to say, because this is essentially a new roster. Looks like they will have strong lanes. I put them here because of reports of their scrim performances. 5. CLG - I think this is the team with the most (Potential) to move up in the actual rankings. From what I understand the team had major personal and communication problems, particularly with the upper half of the map. Link is not as bad as people treat him, Doublelift is in contention for the best ADC in NA still, I believe. Aphromoo is at the very least a great laner. The additions of a top laner who excels in communication and a jungler that Link is able to get along with and talk to, should help them at least not get relegated, but the X factor for this team is how high can they go. My safe bet is 5th place, but I would frankly not be surprised if they soared higher. 6. Team Winterfox - Cool name, in this team importing random Koreans shouldn't be as bad as in other teams since Pobelter and Helios speak Korean (not sure about Altec). ADC has shown ability to come up huge in LCS games, Mid laner is solid enough. Sort of a We'll See team, along with the rest of these bottom 5. 7. Gravity - Curse Academy was a solid lineup, but none of the players stand out as particularly good. I wouldn't bet on any of them to be Top 3 in their position in the Spring Split, but because they appear to be somewhat solid I put them on top of the other teams I expect to have issues. 8. Dignitas - This roster is going to have communication issues, simple as that. Also Kiwikid. 9. Coast - Despite their European imports beating up on shitters in Challenger League, Jesiz and Impaler are not suddenly gods. Good enough that they should beat out Team 8 and avoid auto relegation, but not good enough to beat out teams with actual talent in them. 10. Team 8 - I'm sorry if you're a team 8 fan, but literally the only player on this team that is any good is Calitrolz, and I just don't buy it that he is going to solocarry 4 mediocre like, masters players. Well if we're going off of playoffs I got top 5 exactly correct. Overestimated Winterfox, underestimated Team 8. The rest seem pretty accurate.

Team 8 I feel like asides from the top 2 and bottom 1, the rest are highly variable and really dependent on fluctuations in play based on patch cycles, team synergy, and the like. Almost all of the teams in the "middle of the pack" are dealing with some semblance of new teammates and especially different language speaking teammates. It's hard to tell where they'll line up. I don't really have much faith in Team 8, so I have them slotted 10th, though I can easily see teams like Dignitas, Coast, or Impulse contending for the dubious honor of last place. For 1st and 2nd. I see C9 as a definite lock as their strategic understanding of the game just is on a different level than the other teams, and TSM primarily because somehow, some way they find a way to finish somewhere in the Top 2 by the end of the split -- even despite their struggle v. UoL in IEM. Alright, so my predictions were a mess. Criminally underrated Impulse and even thought they'd be a contender for last (whoooops). Didn't have much faith in the massive communication barriers between Impulse, but I suppose EDG is a testament to communication barriers not really being too big of a deal as long as you have capable enough players. Poor Team 8 also suffered from me not being high on them. They actually performed much better than I ever thought they would. Winterfox being so high up was also one of my more unsavory picks. Avalon turned out to be more potato than potential and the rest of WFX didn't really show up as great as I would have thought. Never mind the circus show of different rotating subs WFX had going for a while. Only thing I can really be somewhat proud of is the TL pick in 3rd instead of 4th, but eh, even then, that wasn't as big of a stretch.

They honestly aren't that outstanding and I don't see any of their individual members becoming significantly better any time soon. I think they will be bottom 2 next split. Teams only have 2 games a week. Do you seriously think that they don't have the time to prepare for both teams? And then once they broke into contention for the massive 4-7 group do you still think that teams were ignoring them? Way to undersell an achievement.

There's so much that teams have to work on that there is not literally A FULL WEEK of preparing for one given team. No one optimized ban/picks against them for a long ass time despite a lot of their limited champion pools and gave them what they wanted. They aren't a relevant team, and they will fight in relegation next split.

Link can't even be put in the same category as most of the mid laners in NA right now. Zion is only good if he's on a champ called Jax or Nasus. We haven't seen anything from Xmithie for a long time now, but he comes from a team that's not used to having a good work ethic. So he fits in at CLG. Rush hour is strong. But look at IEM, they looked so weak. Dig is getting close to being relegated with Kiwi. Kiwi is a joke and it's mind boggling that he's still on a team. Having a support engage fights by having bad decision making and getting caught out is not a good strategy. Well, most of the split I was wrong about CLG, but history repeats in the playoffs. The only two I got 100% right on were TL and Dig. I think overall I was pretty close on most picks except for underestimated T8 and overestimated Winterfox. I also have to give Kiwi some credit. He had some really impressive games this split and wasn't nearly as bad as previous splits. He really stepped up his game. It's pretty safe to say he was a reliably mediocre support this split.
