That said I still think in a vacuum with those picks on the table J4 does appear to be a stronger pick in that situation over Elise.

Its really a terrible system, agreed.

Bo3's are definitely better, but the standings are because of a small sample size, not the fact that it's Bo1.

I fully expected the rest of the LCS to catch up to C9 with the coaches being more involved, but I don't think anybody who watched those games can honestly say that looked like the C9 we're used to.

Dig looked pretty awful and probably should have gone 0-2, Shiphtur was the only redeeming point. Coast could have gone 2-0 but they had a really easy schedule, probably the easiest in NA given the way Dig looks and WFX's sub situation. They definitely did well, but I'd like to see how they hold up versus better teams. Conversely, even given WFX's sub situation, GV looked completely outmatched, but for the C9 game, they showed a lot of grit and resilience in coming back from the deficit. T8 had some serious pick and ban issues and if that crops up a lot, they are going to be in trouble, they also had some laning issues, but they played pretty well in both games in my opinion and got early leads both games (and closed out effectively against TSM). This week, Coast is play T8 and GV, while Dig is playing GV and WFX. I think we'll have a better understanding of how the bottom of the table matches up after this week.

1. C9 - Shaky first week to say the least, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to C9 that the bottom of the table teams are a little better than before (well, some are...). After today's game, and more importantly today's pick/ban phase, I'm confident in keeping them on top again. 2. TL - Loss today mostly from a lack of adaptation in the pick/ban phase. They just couldn't do anything against that team comp with their picks. That said they still played well in the game to at the very least attempt to bring the game back, rotating Piglet around the map to get away and gather some farm, but if they don't pick up that pick/ban phase they'll be unlikely to get wins against the top 4. 3. CLG - Some good mechanical play being shown off, decent strategy and picks, perhaps some over aggression but losing to an on fire TL last week is the only thing keeping them from a 3-0 start. CLG v TSM match will decide much of the fate of 2-4 for me. 4. TSM - I'm still solid that they don't have the strategic depth to come back from a losing game. T8 crushing them with some good individual play last week showed their hand, and while Santorin is better pick up than I gave him credit for, the jungle still isn't as solid as it needs to be to contend. Again though, depending how they go against a stronger team in CLG tomorrow, I'll be looking to move them further up, but I was wrong to be putting them below here before. 5. T8 - Solid individual skill has started to show through here, and aside from some cockiness by Calitrlolz in the mid game their strategic play was fairly good. They've picked their pick/ban phase up since gifting CLG everything they wanted, and managed to do well even when losing a ban and being forced to let picks through to CST. This is definitely subject to change depending on their match vs TiP tomorrow. 6. TiP - I overestimated the impact of language barriers and communication on this team (no pun, impact is a word that can be used in its own right). That said, they're still very mediocre. Rush seems a mechanically good player but lacking presence, their bot lane is mediocre at best, and Impact seems (expectedly to me) underwhelming. This is all subject to change with the game against T8 tomorrow, and I might end up eating my words. 7. GRV - I'll start things out by saying that I believe they played today's game well. They played conservatively because there was no way they could lose by doing so. Even their back timing with waves pushing meant that they had better items for the upcoming 5th dragon to ensure victory there. That said their shotcalling is still slow compared to their CA days and that indicates trouble with the higher caliber of player they're up against. I'm not convinced with giving them too much credit for defeating a broken C9 in first week, but we'll see how they progress. I still think they have potential to improve but right now they're a slow starter. 8. WFX - I wish they could be further up, but POB remains somewhat unreliable, Gleeb (as much as I love and respect the guy) isn't of the same caliber as Krepo, and I don't know if Altec has adapted to that. Helios and Avalon are mediocre, and the team seems to struggle when they're not just making plays. If they become more consistent then they have the potential to be great, but relying on play making just isn't sound strategy. 9. CST - Impaler is a solid jungler and can carry from that position, but being just "meh" everywhere else is hard to look past. Jesiz can be a good player and a play maker against the worse NA midlaners, but the better ones are still...well, better. If they can stop being being CST and start calling shots correctly then they stand a chance to be a solid middle of the pack contender, but I can't guarantee that, and having a contender for both the worst bot lane in the LCS and worst toplaner in the LCS is going to make things a struggle. 10. DiG - 2 biggest playmakers missing, Shiphtur doesn't make plays from behind and without solid lanes Crumbzz's support style jungling doesn't work. Their team comp today tells me they have much to improve on when it comes to the pick/ban phase. Should be 0-3 but CST did CST things against them. For reference, my previous rankings were: 1. C9 - 2. TL - 3. GRV - 4. CLG - 5. WFX - 6. TSM - 7. T8 - 8. CST - 9. DiG - 10. TiP Some over the top rankings based on faith in strategic improvements to certain teams, I'm very disappointed by the lack of improvement to many bottom-mid tier teams in the off season. If anyone's wondering why I'm doing this in the middle of this week's games it's because it's been a lazy Sunday.

TSM - extremely stacked roster in terms of individual talent, was the case last year as well but with the addition of Santorin who has proven to be a soloq god thus far, and reports of him being near Meteos level in scrims, I would be very surprised if TSM wasn't as strong as last year, when they were the best team in NA. 2. C9 - Solid roster, as always. Hai was their biggest liability in S4 Summer Split, perhaps if he is able to be more stable as a player they will be able to beat out TSM. 3. Team Liquid - Without LMQ here to take 3rd place, Curse (Now Team Liquid), automatically ranks up in my book. A few notes though, I think they have gotten a major downgrade in the mid lane, and I think Piglet is a bit overhyped. Biggest strengths have to be the stability of the rest of the roster. Xpecial is a great support capable of carry-level playmaking. Quas is in contention for best Top laner in the entire region, and rarely is seen exploited by other teams. 4. TiP - Hard to say, because this is essentially a new roster. Looks like they will have strong lanes. I put them here because of reports of their scrim performances. 5. CLG - I think this is the team with the most (Potential) to move up in the actual rankings. From what I understand the team had major personal and communication problems, particularly with the upper half of the map. Link is not as bad as people treat him, Doublelift is in contention for the best ADC in NA still, I believe. Aphromoo is at the very least a great laner. The additions of a top laner who excels in communication and a jungler that Link is able to get along with and talk to, should help them at least not get relegated, but the X factor for this team is how high can they go. My safe bet is 5th place, but I would frankly not be surprised if they soared higher. 6. Team Winterfox - Cool name, in this team importing random Koreans shouldn't be as bad as in other teams since Pobelter and Helios speak Korean (not sure about Altec). ADC has shown ability to come up huge in LCS games, Mid laner is solid enough. Sort of a We'll See team, along with the rest of these bottom 5. 7. Gravity - Curse Academy was a solid lineup, but none of the players stand out as particularly good. I wouldn't bet on any of them to be Top 3 in their position in the Spring Split, but because they appear to be somewhat solid I put them on top of the other teams I expect to have issues. 8. Dignitas - This roster is going to have communication issues, simple as that. Also Kiwikid. 9. Coast - Despite their European imports beating up on shitters in Challenger League, Jesiz and Impaler are not suddenly gods. Good enough that they should beat out Team 8 and avoid auto relegation, but not good enough to beat out teams with actual talent in them. 10. Team 8 - I'm sorry if you're a team 8 fan, but literally the only player on this team that is any good is Calitrolz, and I just don't buy it that he is going to solocarry 4 mediocre like, masters players. Quoting my prediction post that I made before the LCS started for reference. I saw above someone posted a revision of their predictions based on what we now know, so I think that's pretty fun and I'll do the same. 1. TSM - This stays the same 2. C9 - This stays the same 3. Team Liquid - This stays the same 4. CLG - I had CLG at number 5 before, but in my reasoning for putting them there I mentioned that they were the team I could see rising from their position the most, and so far things actually look pretty good for them. Should be interesting to see if they can crack the top 3. 5. Gravity - I actually don't think they are much better than I originally thought they were going to be, I feel I just overestimated some of the teams that I now rank below them. 6. Team Impulse - I still think this team has strong players, but they obviously have some communication or shotcalling issues. I'll put them here for now, but would not be surprised if they ended up even lower than 6th. 7. Team 8 - Solid team, just not much skill outside of Calitrolz. When I say solid team, I just mean they seem to communicate and work together well, but you need more than that to compete against teams that are also solid, but with better players. Could see them moving to 6th or even 5th, but would be surprised if they got higher than that. 8. Winterfox - Looks like shit, to be honest. Obviously they still don't have their support and I still do think Pobelter is a pretty good mid laner, and Altec is decent, but they don't look like much of a team as of yet. 9. Coast - Weak players across the board, but they don't have calitrolz to carry them. 10. Team Dignitas - I don't even have to explain this.

We get it, you think TSM is the best team in the world and would've 3-0ed Samsung White if not for nerves, and we know you think Bjergsen can kill Faker 1v1 blindfolded using AP Poppy. I personally don't see a reason to change predictions though. I feel it defeats the point of calling them entire split predictions to change them week after week, plus teams can have wildly fluctuating results and it'll be hard to tell what happens until late in the season.

Really nothing to suggest the top 3 won't end up being TSM/C9/TL in some order though despite the week 1 upsets. CLG has looked like they'll be in the upper half of the standings which is nice. T8 is definitely better than I rated them and I doubt they end up last now. Not going to revise anything yet (LOL NEVERMIND ALL THIS CLG OP)

EDIT: For reference though the entire top 4 is a massive toss up for me. C9 can bounce back, and especially when more changes come through their quick adaption should pull them some leads, and TL is still meshing with their bot lane. I'm perfectly happy with having my first prediction thrown in my face, I thought the offseason would bring a lot more strategic change, but teams stayed the same.
