To be fair, they probably aren't getting a known A-class top laner. It's more likely they got some B-team shitter who's ok with taking free money from NA scrubs.

Yes, but I don’t think the difference is huge when it comes to laning. Again, JUST LANING. The argument that this KR top laner is just going to come and destroy every single lane opponent is grossly exaggerated, especially in this anti snowball meta.

Uhh, Bjergsen came to NA and destroyed pretty much everyone. Why can't this Korean import do the same?

Well yeah you do have a point. In order for the korean guy to win lane they need to actually 1v1 and not just freeze on opposite sides of the map. Soaz is a pretty shitty renekton dunno wtf you smoking bra.

He singlehandedly brought Aatrox into the Korean mainstream after world's and forced so many top lane Aatrox bans when he played. Has a lot of #potential so perfect for CLG. Expession is still dying in the hospital I thought?

So they're forced to look for established players, and all the really good established players are already contracted to good teams. So now they have to look at crappy b-tier and c-tier players that none of the decent korean teams want anymore. What western teams have infrastructure to build young players? All they do is just scoop up some already established challenger team and don't even practice with them or train them.

But for whatever reason they just never bother use those talents in their main roster.

Fnatic didn't really do anything to grow him(Think they tried a team or he did and it failed). They just made sure no one else bought him. the challenger b team system has been tried by basically every organization that could afford to do so, cloud 9 being the most recent. this gets dangerously close to the ESPORTS INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT ESPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE ESPORTS borefest that's been argued endlessly, but it's just a really difficult system to make work when being on a challenger 'farm team' isn't enough to allow players commit to gaming full time
