Would you DDos someone if it would result in 20 years in jail? Then technically, could these DDosers continue doing this for weeks or months without problem? It's kinda hard to imagine that there is nothing anyone can do about this.
Technically, the best way to stop the current DDos is to get all those unupdated servers updated, which will prevent the reflection attacks, and make it much harder to easily amass a massive amount of traffic.
Working with IP's to identify the botnet sending the ddos and individually cleaning up/blocking those computers can help, but thats slow and theres always more people stupid enough to get their computer infected.
Finding the actual person behind the DDos is VERY hard, as they probably start it through alot of proxies, and probably from a computer that isn't their own anyhow. I'm not even sure the NSA would be able to do it, at least not if the person knows what they are doing.

Im not talking about reddit. In this very forum we had people literally telling EU to shut up, "it wont do anything stop talking about it" "go do something else" "ban?" "blacklist topic plz" etc, etc, more then once. So to see the shoe on the other foot is quite amusing.
and i would say the only assholes in this situation are the people DDoSing NA's servers. Its not like i WANT you guys to have shitty servers. Its just entertaining to see the roles reversed.
At least we're all in the same boat now and can bitch together!

That was mostly because r/lol had a banner that read something akin to EUW server issues megathread and yet nearly every thread in the new tab was people either being a reddit reporter about the servers being down or people asking about it.
