Thresh is great yes but not the "best" He's saying "Best in Role" not "Best in Game". Thresh is likely the best support in the game in the moment (and honestly has been since his release). I'd agree Annie/Leona come close, but Thresh is just bonkers. Unless you're going for a specific comp or bot lane synergy, there's never a bad time to pick him. | ||

There are a ton of OP mids right now, but the gap between Thresh and any other support seems (to me) much greater than the gap between, say, Gragas and Kassadin/Kayle/Yasuo/Ziggs/etc. | ||

He doesn't bring really strong engage by itself compared to Annie and Leona outside of the very conditional hook. Leona on the other hand is a tanky mofo and Annie maybe the best engage in game since it's instant. They're just different heroes, but Thresh is not that far ahead. | ||

Elise is probably one of those champions where she's THE BEST, out of all the possible jungle choices. | ||

But that kind of kit that has some of the strongest utility is pretty bonkers broken, despite whether or not he deals damage. If you could create a champion that does 0 damage, but only ability was to heal teammates for like 1000 health, on a 1 second cool down, it would be beyond broken, and easily the best champion in the game, despite being unable to fight 1v3. | ||

Post doran's shield nerf, Leona and Thresh cannot neglect hard magic damage while still staying strong through auto attacks from the opposing ADC early on, so we will probably see a shift (again, again, again, again) towards more bursty lanes rather than tanky lanes. If you get the experience advantage as a mage support and level up faster than a tanky support, you will win. It's not rocket science and has nothing to do with their kits, Leona wasn't even that popular in late season 3 and the same goes for Alistar. The rotation in champions will always go from poke/mage supports to tank/initiation supports back to poke/mage supports, it's been like that for years now. | ||

You don't think they could 1v3 with a sunfire cape + self heal until the end of time, maybe with a spirit visage? Actually, this sounds like an oddly familiar position... | ||
