It is a huge difference. I always use this example because it is how I feel. I used to be on the west coast with 40 ping. There when I see a NNautilusganking me, I use vlad's pool after seeing the hook is about to hit me. On east coast with 90-100 ping I pool after seeing animation. Simply put, most skillshots have 1000-1500ish speed. With 100 ping it means any skillshot in 300-400 range WILL land and you can't flash out of it (you can't react instantly; often you need about 10-50ms to react depending on how obvious the cue is). Yes Elise I am looking at you. Now, how much this really matters is debatable. Westdoor0204 used to be 2600+ elo on NA with almost 200 ping, so obviously it is not detrimental. But still there is a difference and I am sure h could have gotten higher with 10 ping.

Urban East Coast seems to run between ~90 and ~115 as anecdotal ranges for myself and henchlings. You get used to it when it's stable but when it jumps a bit above that for an afternoon it feels like playing by semaphore. This is the most important point. Someone who plays at a ping that stays consistently at 200 will play much better (in a general sense) than someone who plays at a ping that fluctuates between 15 and 60

You do know that after a certain point, better internet won't improve your ping? It's not like better internet will improve the speed of light or lower your distance to the servers.

From Philadelphia: NA: 90-120 depending on traffic. EUW: I only checked it once for shits and gigs, but 110. The real shitter? LA-N: 30 Time to learn spanish! The routing catches dysentery on the old trail west and shits itself. The biggest ping issue League has had? No. The most disappointing one for people that are on their region's server? Probably.

Unless you think hardcore gamers decide to move to the West Coast to get better LoL ping, this is a bogus alternative. There is no "better internet". If you're on the Eastern side of North America you aren't going to get any better than 80ms, even if you pay $500 a month. For the record, I've lived at both ends of Ontario now and through various ISPs had pings mostly between 86 and 130.

Highest was 40ish. Different isp and plan levels affected my ping.

Yea, well, I suspect that there is a greater chance for those traffic variances when your signal is coming from NY/Chicago vs. San Diego/Francisco. Skarner isn't popular anymore, but the "fix" to his ult was essentially a ping compensation issue.

There's a reason Georgia Tech's LoL team is better than ours.

There's 40+ players who are very high on ladder with low ping from LCS alone. *edit - i have 80-100 ping in middle of our fine country.

Scaling stun length with levels, meh But having her ult on 80 sec CD at lvl 16 (or an effective 48 sec with CDR) is pretty OP considering Tibbers is alive for 45 seconds. Yay for having an extra champ with Sunfire, nuke and a ton of magic damage.
