Welcome to the NA and EU qualifiers, where DDOS's are more common than games being played! Whoever invented the 'teams only have 10 minutes of pause time' should probably be fired, or at least publicly ridiculed.

Quantic clearly should have kept playing 4v5 (Gunza reconnected a few minutes later) but what is being communicated to me is that the admins did not tell Quantic that their 10 minutes were actually up, so when they passed the '10 minute' mark they were immediately disqualified, even though Quantic wanted to keep playing. Why there is a 30 minute pause timer ON THE TOURNAMENT REALM is another silly thing.

Whether it's Riot or Wellplayed's rules to only give people 10min of pausetime, it's retarded. Not only can't you protect yourself completely against ddos but afaik tournament rules even force people to use skype haha. I was only watching it on mute next to dreamhack but after the dragonfight all 5 seemed to have a fine connection but they were only dq'd because they paused longer than 10min right?

Normally it's number of pauses and not actual pause time that's limited. Oh god what why the hell would the tournament rules determine what voip the players can use. Forcing skype seems completely and utterly retarded. Also DQing a team without telling them they have to unpause is even more pathetic. These people should never be allowed to host a tournament again.

I don't know why they didn't just decide to cast from replay to protect the integrity of the tournament after this first time this happened. It's getting pretty ridiculous.

Forcing skype seems completely and utterly retarded. Also DQing a team without telling them they have to unpause is even more pathetic. These people should never be allowed to host a tournament again. Honestly, the only X minute of pause time isn't a bad rule. It holds teams to a professional standard in the sense that it prevents players from going afk in the middle of a game for whatever reason. It's important for live casted games in that the rule prevents players from holding up the cast, which is a very important objective for tournament organizers. The rule also helps to prevent disingenuous teams from faking a lag/dc issue and forcing a rematch. What is absolutely ridiculous is the fact that tourneys force players to use specific voip players can use, especially if said program is Skype, which has had a long history of leaking IPs and causing DDOS. It's also completely ridiculous that the tournament didn't just choose to cast from a replay or just not cast the game at all instead of forcing a forfeit due to script kiddies running a DDOS program, especially considering this game is of extreme importance to Quantics' member's ability to make a living.

The real question is, if they're playing on the tournament realm-- why not just enable official replays there? They've got them working on PBE pretty well from what I understand, so just move 'em over to the tournament server and let the casters cast from that if necessary. Casting from replays sucks, though. I understand why they'd want to avoid it.
