Then there's "shit-tier" that only work because the opponents underestimate them and/or don't know how to play against them. Safe and Situational are just two subsets of optimal. A good example would be picking between Orianna and Ahri, or Ahri and Fizz, or Shen and Singed. Viable implies that firstpicking Anivia isn't a terrible idea with Vi and an Assassin still open. Not saying that Anivia couldn't be a situational pick, but that pick is clearly suboptimal. | ||

Anivia is clearly situational, that is to say, at some point during some draft she could in theory be the very best pick. Zed is currently "safe" as is Renekton. Galio is weak, because even in soloq his impact is too easily countered. I think these labels are alot clearer, whereas "optimal" is too general a term to describe anything without also adding context. | ||
