my client lagged for a huge period of time and i didnt get to select a champ so i abandoned but i didnt lose any lp for leaving the ranked game in select, did i just get lucky

If you don`t even connect to champion select before it was too late then you don`t lose anything. If that's what happened.

The last Alistar champion thread is pretty outdated, so I thought I'd ask here. I don't play much league, but I do grab first win vs bots most days and rotate champs to keep it interesting. Today I jungled Alistar for the first time in a long while, and I think I did something a little different and could maybe use some theorycraft help.

He still clears small camps as fast as ever, but falls off on killing big creeps in the midgame pretty hard with just a Q+autos per camp (which a spirit stone can sustain easy). Ganking whenever smite's down didn't feel like quite enough farm, and it burned through mana pretty quickly. What I did was grab a Chalice, so that I could spam heals and it lowered my camp clear time considerably, and it made sure I pretty much always had enough for a full combo gank. Went for Chalice/HGMobos/Golem core which seemed strong enough.

But if I'm grabbing a Chalice anyway, I probably should grab Madred's instead of SS to boost the single target clear, right? Haven't tried this out yet, but it seems better in theory to me, with the biggest detriments being an 880g investment in a Chalice and not getting the Golem spirit thing. Anyone have thoughts on how I should go about building this, or any other suggestions for Ali in the current jungle?

In my own experiments madreds isn't much faster than chalice on Kayle. I should have better controlled the experiment but both Kayles reached the same level and gold at level 10.

More mana = more spam of abilities.

Even if you are rushing a Chalice, I think it may be worthwhile to get a machete first? And then perhaps get the spirit stone.
Machete is a 300 gold item, so unless you really want a ward it's the best first item for a jungler.

Then stone is only 400 more gold whereas chalice is 880 and the health regen can still be useful. The main problem is definitely your tankiness, low dps, and weak clear speed after that. So sunfire seems like a good item to rush after boots 1.

This is all just theory from my side. Maybe Ali does better with more CDR from grail or SV or FH or Boots of lucidity than the dps of sunfire.
