However, as someone mentioned, most of the sound is picked up through the microphone, especially if some people use voice detection (which is retarded in a live event but hey, a few of my teammates did it...). Hearing someone scream "DYRUS" from the top of their lungs is not unbelievable.
Not using sound proof booths or 20s delay is SO dumb loool
Even if not for cheating, the crowd is massive, if they scream during a massive teamfight you won't be able to communicate for shit because your microphone would get raped by all the screaming fans.
EPS Germany setup was imo just perfect for players, you have about 20 people in the live audience, enough to create fan interaction not enough to screw with your microphone.
Presumably they don't want to delay because they want to be able to show reactions with the player cams.

picks, bans, with win/loss info, in convenient easy-to-parse format (bonus: I'm pretty sure you can just copy-paste it into excel and it will "just work", or at the very worst excel has an import command that should parse everything nicely)

So tsm chose karth top and zed mid vs skt. Wouldn't it be better if karth went mid and zed top? I ve seen plenty of zed top but never a karthus mid

Well, Zed is a lot better at making plays around the map, while karthus really just wants to farm up and ult. So if he is able to do that toplane (which can be hard), it makes sense to do it this way.

Nah Riven would have destroyed Karth even harder than Zed and Zed wants to roam the map where as Karthus just has to press R. Shouldn't pigeon hole heroes into lanes.

How many champions were picked banned in TI3 compared to the number of Dota2 champs, anybody have numbers for that?
I think if we wanted to make a srsface attempt at comparing LoL balance to Dota balance, looking at the ratio of number of champs picked/banned to total number of champs between the two events is about the best number you could hope for.
Granted, Dota has more bans than LoL does.

I mean Zed and Corki "the OP" champions in this tournament (and mabye Ahri I guess) really don't hold a candle to wisp, numbers just can't do it justice
or mabye they can, wisp winrate in grand finals 5-0
I think roffles but it best when he said at least 50% of the reason china didn't do well at TI3 is because they don't wisp as well as western teams.

96/1~~ heroes were picked throughout iirc - yango can correct me if I'm wrong

Struggling to find info for the playoffs but what I got from the group stages is 79 out of 96 heroes picked/banned. Looking at some other data I see only 10 not contested so going to assume it was 86/96 for the whole tournament.
edit: Seems that first 76/96 is just picked heroes and doesn't count any that were banned but never picked.

Well since dota has more bans we can't really compare imo.If league had 4 more bans we'd see a lot more champs(probably still not as much % wise but it would be a lot closer).

i don't understand why everyone is complaining about not having booths. The only reason booths work in SC is because white noise is pumped in through the headphones. The actual booth does nothing. Like the old MBC booths were literally cardboard and plywood. Heck i think the OGN booths still seep in some crowd noise as well.

Wisp is broken but so's Batrider. I think Yango stated that they sort of balance each other out (seriously fuck batrider)

It's a difficult comparison, but since Dota has 25% more pick/bans than LoL (20 as opposed to 16), you could guesstimate it by saying that the ratio for Dota should be 25% higher than the ratio for LoL if the games were equally balanced.
That's not really fair though, because realistically the more bans you have the more fringe, one-off picks you're going to get.
Still, I'd be interested in seeing the ratios in comparison to each other.

Ok I checked ingame compendium and only 12 heroes were neither picked or banned. There is a total of 102 heroes in game but I think 5 aren't in captains mode so it leaves the total as 85/97. Might be 1 or 2 off.

I wonder. Just because someone picks Ogre magi once and loses without him doing anything, I don't think that this is an indicator of that hero being viable.

Well Ogre was picked in the finals and he's been picked a few times before TI3 for super fast pushes with Sylla. He's perfectly viable in certain setups.

The other thing about balance in LoL is so far I don't believe that champion balance has lost a game for a superior team. This is an opinion obviously I realize that + Show Spoiler +TSM>Lemondogs and VUL>SSO
I don't think this was the case with Wisp alone in group stages.

You could say the same thing about Swain in Worlds, though.
If you try to get into individual champion specifics you can talk about balance within the game, but it becomes impossible to compare the two games because they're different games.
If you want to actually compare the two games, about the best you can do is say "x% of champions were picked/banned as opposed to y%"
