Dblade and high enough to gank successfuly would be a very, very limited pool. Probably only elise, udyr and maybe xin. Even with W first, without a really good leash, xin gets somewhat low after a smiteless.

Dblade and clearing is a lot different than dblade and ganking.

Edit: shaco definitely works, although boxes are OP.

More like run around in the edge of their vision for a minute to waste their time until your smite is back up, and then go do 1100 instant damage to the enemy's second buff too

It's mostly a question of early speed vs. fighting power, but there are certain junglers who specifically have their AD scaling/base damages such that DBlade gives them almost comparable damage and for whom the pots are more or less superfluous.

For example Tiger Udyr does 56 damage level 1 and Tiger procs do 30 + 1.2 x 56 damage. This means that:
With Machete he does 62 + 10 magic damage on autoattacks, and 107 + 10 magic damage on Tiger procs
With DBlade he does 68 damage on autoattacks and 109 damage on Tiger procs

The loss of pots is fairly negligible given how little high Udyr's sustain is to begin with, he's significantly stronger in duels and ganks, and he saves 175 gold on not buying pots on his first clear, which counteracts the slightly slower farming speed.

i've been feeling so lost starting machete and never upgrading it since they nerfed the random proc on madreds

i mean it probably comes to the same amount of damage but it feels so shitty

im surprised there aren't fixes for wriggles and madreds on the PBE right now... wriggles especially is just an astoundingly bad buy right now, it's not even close to competing with spirit stone or botrk

But that free ward! The main issue is if you do go madreds, there's no incentive to go wriggles.

I can tell you that when I tried it with Nocturne two/three weeks back, my clear left me so low. The only plus was my level 3 was stronger from the dmg and secured a kill. If I didn't get a kill it was a flat loss. That being said, I know Koreans start Elise with Dorans blade all the time.

Its just a dumb item at this point, it fulfills the exact same role as the spirit stone items except its worse. Even if they buffed it its still just completely unnecesary now. Either everyone will go spirit stone or everyone will go wriggles, it has no niche.
