a diamond forum would be full of trolling. we should just try to encourage and somehow give incentive for our strong players to contribute. how could we do that?

example of a skeleton: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=193954¤tpage=16#314 ^^^^ as I said, I don't think there are many ways you could really get high level players to latch onto this forum, only the blue posts which would get them more respected and revered would be helpful but nothing else comes to mind.

It should be open for all to view, but not post, except in a specific AMA thread. 2. I think the existence of a Diamond+ forum might increase the posting rate of Diamond players for various reasons. 3. The Dia IV+ requirement is strictly for convenience. Are there Unranked/Bronze/Silver/Gold/Plat people who are fantastic posters and theorycrafters? Sure there are. Is it feasible to open the floodgates just to let these few in? Maybe not. Specific good posters are easily singled out and invited to the forum, weeding bad ones after the fact is way harder. Anyway, Diamond IV+ isn't particularly hard to get now, and should be manageable for almost anyone who has a proper understanding of the game. How many Diamonds do we have on TL overall actually? On June 22 2013 22:20 Scip wrote: or just give blue posts to deserving higher ranked players it's a lot easier and way less invasive This is indeed a possibility. One thing to consider is whether it would encourage more discussion? On June 22 2013 22:22 clickrush wrote: I would love to see more high elo players start threads in teh strategy forum. If there is an issue with ppl posting crap in their threads then theres the report button/private msg for that, I think we have enough mods to take care of those few posts? Indeed. We might need to set out specifically what is mod-actionable and what is not the same way as the SC2 Start Forum Rules. One tip is to try and plan out before you post and find ways of breaking down stuff. For example, of you're writing about how to play a champion you could group it under early/mid/late game, or talk about different decision making process and how to think for example.

edit: People like to feel their opinion being valued. Making the posts blue I assume helps make them feel more valued or important so might encourage more posting.

I think we need some sort of General strategy thread in addition to this one which should be heavily moderated against anything that is off-topic. Also a way to encourage people to use it. I know we have the strategy forum with trolls and the champion threads. They are definitely visited less tho, and there isn't a general topic.

If you guys want to improve the quality of discussion, I'd suggest starting by actually improving the quality of your own discussion, not harping on about how you have to be good at LoL to also be good at posting in forums.

"Meanwhile a handful of Silvers and Golds go out and actually find an interesting strategy in their TROLLS testing" There are differing opinions about that it's not about posting itself, you can be a good player and terrible poster (like idra) but the content of your posts can't go above than your skill/understanding of the game.

the thing about interesting discussion topics is you have to find people who differing points of view on a topic and generally if someone makes a wall of text people usually dont argue

If you think it's such a terrible strategy then explain why it is so bad, I'd love to read about that. Much more than this endless torrent of bad posts about how people are bad posters.

There are 57 pages of Trolls thread I haven't read, perhaps you would like to handpick some strategies from the thread for me to criticize?

Meanwhile a handful of Silvers and Golds go out and actually find an interesting strategy in their TROLLS testing, post about it in TL GD to be discussed, and it is ignored for several pages. If you guys want to improve the quality of discussion, I'd suggest starting by actually improving the quality of your own discussion, not harping on about how you have to be good at LoL to also be good at posting in forums. Short term solution ... Maybe 10 pages have been said with nothing "useful", but it's a sacrifice to make something even BETTER in the future.

Making a diamond only thread is like i said earlier basically a dick measuring contest. Theres plenty of people as was the case in the bw forum im sure(D players in this case) that knew what they were talking about but couldn't do it. Id be surprised if the same thing didnt exit in league.
